I served in the NY Army National Guard for six years, '63 to '69, have an Honorable Discharge & get absolutely no veteran's benefits, ( as do all Guardsmen, who don't serve at least six months active duty (not including training)! At least I was paid a salary & would have received a pension, had I served at least 20 years! Question: Why would civilians want to go through "basic training', risk injury & lose pay from work, without getting reimbursed for their time?

Yep, like the auxiliary police who make arrests and patrol but just don't get pay or benefits

So that clown febreeze or whatever his name is- has zero mil or LE experience- but is a officer in this "water-handing-out-"force". Interesting.

it’s obvious you are uneducated as to what they do: disaster relief is just one of many responses that include -counter insurgency, prison riots, rescue operations, anti-trafficking, etc. So before you insult people positions, make sure you’re never in a position you’d need help for or from.

@@FizzSix Are you saying these people who went through a 30 day boot camp are trained to do all of that cool guy special ops stuff you just described? Seriously? Where did you get your "education" on this "unit"?

@@shrapmagnetare you saying a college kid is somehow more capable of leading a small element?

@@cgmason7568 No idea where you got that from. But a "college kid" with the right background of training, experience, and mentorship picked up along the way from veterans would absolutely be more capable of leading a small unit.

@@shrapmagnet a college kid meaning OCS or an academy doesn't have the skill or knowledge to effectively lead without a large amount of help
