@Rouxenator7 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. With IDE it is easy to determine if there is activity, just look at PIN 39. However on SATA it is not that simple so most of these external controllers just flash the LED based on power drawn by the SATA drive. Needless to say SSD is very power efficient.

Mine is finicky takes a couple of attempts to work sometimes, sometimes the lights don't work but the connection is fine. infact its a plus when the lights don't work as it can be a bit on the bright side.

@@andreabeltran4313 not sure what you mean. Of course I would not switch off the power while they hdd is still in use. This thing just arrived yersterday. I had and still have a hard-time with docking an IDE HDD. First, the IDE drives didn't fit at first. I had to broke the 2 useless 'alignment notches' from the side if the IDE connector. After I managed to fit them, I tried with 2 different IDE drives: Maxtor 40 GB and Samsung 250 GB, but none of them worked. They spin up like normal, but no response in the Explorer. I wonder if they not supported, or it's a connection issue, or the dock station just flat-out doesn't work. And there is no firmware updates or any drivers to this thing on the interwebz. I tried the SATA docking with a Samsung 200 GB drive and it worked just fine.

Im no expert, so need any answer spelt out in non-computer language. I emailed Tccmebius, they quickly replied but the answer, about using the OTB function made things more confused. Another clue I found on the net was not to use a USB3 port on the laptop, but use a USB2. The docking station instructions say to "operate the hard drive partition" but not how to do that. Lastly, the Manual says "when the product is used in the WIN10 system, the hard drive cannot be read. But it can, although in my case, only partially. As you can see, I am in a complete mess. I have written 3 novels of 300+ pages, almost finished, on the HDD, don't want to lose them! Can you help please? Thank you in advance, and keep safe in this corona virus.

Hey Mate, how about heat protection in Australia? PC-s not needed an extra cooling than in europe?
@philscomputerlab7 жыл бұрын
It's colder here. We have air conditioning.
@kaitlyn__L7 жыл бұрын
plus either way, even 35ºc would be way colder than 70ºc, so there'd still be heat exchange going on with the heatsinks etc. even if the cpu ends up running at 70 (core temp) rather than 60, that's still way below the max of ~96-104 core temp (assuming intel or amd, no idea about ARM's specs). 30c of thermal headroom on the cores (instead of 40) really is still a lot of headroom. i recently ran cpu validation stress tests for a solid hour with the intel bundled heatsink for kaby lake (though my own thermal paste, because i had taken it off a few times before) and it only peaked at 75 on core (so 25 headroom), with no throttling in cpu-z. and it idles at like 40. my room is usually 20-25, so with naive maths, that'd be 80-85 under extreme load (or, 20-15 of headroom) and usually more like 70 under real world loads like games, if the room were even as hot as 35. and, like phil said, there's air conditioning anyway. but my point is that the computer probably would still be fine even if it were out in ~30c air (dunno about some of the more extreme stuff that's happened with heat waves lately though :p) so long as there was adequate airflow (so, not clogged with dust). heck i've been in spanish houses in the summer with no air conditioning with computers chugging along happily on air-cooling only, without throttling. so yeah sorry for the long comment >.> i find this topic interesting and also worry about the level of misinfo out there (which i know phil doesn't spread, but like, people saying using the heatsink intel bundles will kill your cpu after a few years, kind of thing..)

Simply put two drives in the unit, the "master" and a blank drive to clone it to. You have to push the red button twice to start cloning process. This is the best way to back-up/make-copy of an original drive. Like I said to clone you do not need a computer ! ! ! Press button twice ! ! ! I bought a sata-to-sata version (model# 876c) as that is what I do most often. I wish I had, and may yet do, buy an ide-to-sata (model# 875) like yours to be able to clone old ide's to new sata drives. But I can't remember the last time I picked up an ide drive.

this is why I don't bother with instructions,or even a the driver disk. all it is plug and play.

What are the uses of this device? What is it for? Can I connect it to my tv and have my tv as a monitor for the operating system in the hard drive? Thanks

What good was the video for? Everybody does these simple videos. Show us how the clone works.

Has anybody used this? Just as like to have extra hard drive space on their laptop and not to clone things? Will that work?

Phil. Thank you so much for this video. I just bought this exact unit and I was thinking that I would have to "just figure it out" so to speak. This has helped me so much. The only question I would have is how do you use it to make copies of drives? I have a stack of old drives I want to compile into one and go from there. Thanks again. You rock. BTW, I am in the USA and I am sharing this immediately.

Came in a box for a different product, there was no card reader in the front.

Yea it's one of these generic boxes, with a bunch of model numbers on the side, and (hopefully), the matching one ticked.

I bought one like this but I got fucked, it was USB 2.0 and have an esata port which is not usable since most of the computers nowadays doesn't have an esata port except thinkpad . I tried to buy and a cable adapter eSATA - USB3 but cost more than this dock and I found a cheap sata-esat pcie which a I bought and again I got fucked up it was only sata extension and not sata to eSata. be aware of this product not recommended at all since there is plenty docking stations on the market which looks exactly the same but the plugs are not !

You didn’t demonstrate squat, you give up at the end, to hard basket, your style of video and delivery was good, as for the the content I didn’t learn anything about what it does? You were what testing the speed of the drives? With a separate program? Why? You had a broken, don’t know if it works correctly, doesn’t look like it, no way in hell would I buy this product or recommend it from watching this video.

Windows 10 cannot detect this dock or even when plugging-in the 3.5 SATA drive that I wanted to access. I guess it is JUST a cloning device and not used like that with external drives. Will ahve to hand it over to a family member. Maybe he can make use of it in another way. Bad purchase.

Truthfully, I think it sucks.
