Things just keep getting better! The Fideco Y842HC dual Dock, Hub and offline Cloning solution

I had just ordered the hub only version but you pointed out that this one has a nifty 3.0 card reader which is better than my 2.0 one. So cancelled order and ordered this one. I did check first if it cost in to get the basic Fideco docking station and add a 3.0 or even a 3.2 Gen 2 reader and hub. Cost is more and anyway, I don't need more cables to plug in. So I have this one on the way. Thanks. BTW, this is the newest version. Amazon still has the old cheaper and bigger one for sale. However, I think this looks better next to a coffee cup.

How can you format the HDs? Can they be NTFS or EXT4?

Was the partition on the 500gb drive now maxed out at 250gb? I understand that is an issue of this procedure, that the larger drive will only copy to the size of the smaller drive, then you have to go into the pc and change the partition.

Here's my question. Would you be able to take the hard drive from an old computer and install it in one of these "docking stations" and attach to your new computer and move all the files with photos onto the new computers hard drive. I'm struggling with all the computerese language to understand what It is I'm trying to do and what I need to purchase. Thank you.

I just got one today .I have the Samsung new ssd 2t and it won't clone . I put the Samsung ssd on 2 the other one on one. It started up run than trins off . Do you have to put the new one on the CP. Note: For disk @ (, blue lights wil be on during workmg; and they will flash during data witting or reading Herd Disk Initialzation 1. Warm Note: 1 For new HDD/SSD, piaase go to "Disk Management" to initialize it frst and then your HDD/SSD can be recagnized 2 Piease back up all your data batore formatting ynur HDD. Offline cloning only works between the SATA ports but not the USB.

@@OKuusava It didn't work well. I think the drive letter was adapted in the transfer and the system does not start because of this.

Is it possible to clone an installed drive in the computer directly on to a clone drive inserted in this unit.

With proper software, yes. I boot Strelec's WinPE and then use DiskGenius and clone the system drive. Typically takes around 3 hours for an exact sector-to-sector clone of a 1TB drive. Be aware that most of the applications in Strelec's WinPE are pirated.
