The example of the student with hearing loss neglected to mention the special factors that need to be addressed when discussing what LRE means for this specific group of individuals. Communication and language access are addressed in the special factors and should not be neglected based solely on the "hearing level" that is shown from one test. For many deaf/hard of hearing students, the assumption is that the Least Restrictive environment is a "regular" classroom, however this could be considered the most restrictive environment for failing to provide a "Language Rich Environment".

How come I don't have a disability but I am in an IEP class. It makes me feel stupid compared to everyone. The "special education" teachers don't help me at all and the main teachers do. I feel like I don't belong in the IEP group. What do I do?

Some times they'll take put you in thoses classes if you fail your regualr classes instead of making you retake it next year

SPED no longer truly mean “disability”. I know, confusing. A “disability” is now just a modern term for “not typical”. Why? Because people have sued enough

They threw me in math class for those who have one and I don't have a disability. This is messed up, and I'm always separated from the people I know. It's getting ridiculous because not only do I feel completely dumb and stupid but everyone else thinks I have an issue

Advocate for yourself! I was placed in special ed in the early 2000s because english wasn't my first language, people are really just ignorant and it sucks how it impacts us. You got this and never give up on yourself!!
