The existence of competing texts SUPPORTS the Bible. The Bible itself continually warns us against fakes. It does not surprise those who have really read and studied the Bible when other "gospels" and spurious documents are found. Most of the extra-Biblical texts are dismissed not only for contradicting the Bible, but for being too LATE to be historical. Skeptical "experts" try to surprise us by "revealing" non-canonical texts. It is my understanding that there are many gnostic gospels that report many things that are different from the common gospels, this sounds like just another one. The authenticity of anything from the 5th century is always in question as any archaeologist would know and should expect. Peer review is essential.

The gospels in the Bible are written down the line by people who weren’t witnesses but people who heard the stories. Paul is credited for some books but half of those are written by someone else.

As far as the history of the four canonical documents, the earliest versions we have of them are early Middle Age copies of older documents which are now lost. The oldest gospel copies that have proven the authenticity of the writing (no significant changes or whatever) have been found on various body wrappings from that time period in fragments. This happened because the scroll parchments were used as burial wrappings. You’re also correct in questioning many of the alternative gospels outside of the canon because there were a lot of Gnostic gospels and other false writings presented as from an original Apostle in circulation as early as the 150s AD I believe.

There were several Gnostic Gospels written in Syriac. In fact, several of them made there way into the Quran. These are fables, which were made up well after the first century by people who were Hollywoodizing popular stories and not documenting historical events. It would be like taking tales like The Hobbit or Harry Potter and trying to read history into them. When you read the New Testament gospels, you get the sense that they are describing real people and actual events. Nobody believes that Jesus, when he was a kid, killed other kids for laughing at him but the Infancy Gospel of Thomas writes about it (and the story made its way into the Quran). Nobody believes the Gnostic Gospels except those who refuse to believe in the actual risen Savior.

So sad to see so many believing this crap. When a book that came 400 years after the gospels, has more credibility than the gospels, is very revealing how many lack the understanding of the gospels. However, this opened my eyes and now I understand how abgreat falling away could come as prophesied in revelation. People are just itching to hear everything but the truth. It is a shame to see that so many are not bothered by the fact that he admitted to substituting the characters in the book with Jesus and Mary Magdalene, in order to create a new story. This is straight up heresy, and shame on all those that depart from the word of God and choose to believe something that is literally made up.

The Catholic Church decided who to include and exclude from the Gospels. Even in today's world some people write for years and then publish. While I agree with most of the new testament being written after Lord Jesus ascended into heaven, the old testament writings were there before Lord Jesus was born. So to say that the bible was written years after Lord Jesus, is not just dishonest, it is unfactual, it is a lie. 1 Corinthians 15:33 KJV - Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Galatians 6:7 KJV - Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Now, I do agree that the writings existed seperately on scrolls, and that they were not compiled into one book called the bible until after Lord Jesus ascended into heaven. However, that matters not when answering the question Did man always have the word of God written down? In fact, God did better than man. Man compiled all the different writings into a book called the bible, but God wrote his truth on everyone's heart. We're all born in sin, but we're all born with God's law written on our hearts also. Romans 2:14-15 ESV - For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them I stand by my thoughts of this film being a big lie, and designed to help accelerate the already self destructing christianity. This is not the first time this man attempts to dissolve christianity, through his documentaries.

You know... I find it interesting that Simcha says he "doesn't want to offend anyone" but there is a clear difference in how he approaches Jewish and Christian history. In his shows he tends to accept Jewish orthodoxy and in his archeology he supports that Jewish orthodoxy. However, when it comes to Christianity he usually takes a skeptical or non-orthodox stance most of the time. It's almost like he has a copy of the Babylonian Talmud right next to him when he tries to dive into early Christian history. It's a pretty clear pattern and I really wish Simcha was more transparent about the bias before he claims that he "doesn't want to offend anyone."

Yes, the Joseph who was made a governor of the Egyptian Pharaoh, and was espoused to Aseneth by whc he bore two sons - Ephraim & Manases /Manassas. The bride mentioned about the end of the Book of the Apocalypse is an allegorical reference. At any rate, it means that Jesus is the medium by which man is to be reconciled fully back to his Divine state (whc was lost by his fall) in the Father's kingdom whc rulership is handed over to His Firstborn - the Christ; it is not a marriage similar in the secular context, though I do not advocate nor refute if Jesus ever did espouse a woman in His sojourn on earth as some "Gnostic" elements sound with sense. After all, there's absolutely nothing wrong if Jesus as a man got espoused with any particular woman. The evasive truth could only be attained to with an objective approach, and any preconception (prejudice) could only frustrate it: material account doesn't matter much in mystical spirituality which is subject to contemplation with Scriptural information taken into consideration which itself again is subject to verification considering how it could possibly be confounded unintentionally or otherwise.

The "Church" was created over 300 years after the purported events surrounding the death of Yeshua. And the story that they agreed on had already been part of every ancient myth that came before. Gnostic Christians also believe that the flesh was could be co equal with the Spirit if you will find the harmony between them. This leads to have different knowledge of the resurrection way different than what the Bible teaches. "Many Gnostic texts deal not in concepts of sin and repentance, but with illusion and enlightenment." Do not be deceived though, just because there is a very old manuscript written in Syriac from the 600AD , it doesn't mean that's the true Gospel though.

We were warned against it and other false gospels many times. So, Christians who know the Bible are not likely to be shaken when these alternate writings appear.

The 4 Gospels were written in Greek which was the universal language at the time. God meant it for Jew and Gentile. This document seemed to be written for the Jews. Hmmm. Is it possible someone was trying to undermine the ministry with scandal? The Sanhedrin used Politics and accusations to put Stephen and Jesus to death. They are the ones that stirred up the crowds. Perhaps this could have been an ancient day propaganda to discredit and abolish Christianity and to bring the Jews back from it. Just a thought.

Let us not forget who the Romans where and what they did to early christians, and to every culture they encountered. That they constructed our Bible and revisted, and altered it trough time, according to the needs of their institution. The torture and murder didnt stop at "The concile of Nicee", in 325. It still went on for more than 1000 years. And keep also in mind that these lost gospels, death sea, Nah Hammadi, the Judas Gospel, or this one where written by humans, with all thier needs and fears. The fact that it was incoded means that the knowledge had to be hidden.... Why?

For Jesus to have been a Rabbi and teach in the Temple as it states in the Bible he would of had to fill certain strict criteria, he would not of been allowed to be a Rabbi or teach there unless he had at least one wife and proven himself eligible by siring children, the Temple traditions and rules wouldn't allow him to teach or be a proper Rabbi without fulfilling those criteria/rules, plus it would of made him a more influential figure during his life time, if he hadn't married or sired children he would of not been worthy of attention to the people of his day and no matter what his message was he would of been ignored and derided by people not followed as a Rabbi let alone a/the Messiah if he was without at least one wife. That isn't something that comes from a book of modern revisionist religious conspiracy theory, it is factual information that can be found by reading through Jewish historical records regarding the second Temple period, why should that be such a controversy? Surely the idea of Jesus having a wife makes him all that more accessible and closer to what God intended for the Human race and someone everyone can relate to?

1. Yes, Rabbis had to be married. Exceptions were extremely seltem. Anyway, Jesus wasn't a Rabbi in that traditional sense. 2. Jesus was not liked by the religios authorities. 3. Think! Why in all the world, should the early Christians have hidden the fact of Jesus' marriage? There was just no reason for doing so! For getting accepted and for being successful in the antic society, a married Jesus might even have been an advantage. 4. Wouldn't the hostile witnesses have clearly pointed out to such a fact?
