Man I heard Madlib once say you don’t need all this fancy hardware Then I hear Al say well when you use a DAW you can line everything up perfectly(Quantize) I love the part when he said you know when you get emotional. I’ve heard him say you can’t overcook a meal. So once I laid down what I laid down and it made me feel happy and I’ve learned from the experience. I walk away. The beat is done. I constant play this is my head to make sure I try to keep it raw, simple and as human as possible. That is my mission statement.

The “limitations” just make me appreciate the art that’s given to us from guys like Al. Tribe, Dilla, Madlib, DOOM, etc. All of these artists had to create what they heard in their innermost minds with what they had access to. Don’t get me wrong, the modern technology is good with giving us what they had earlier and faster, but the want and desire to give the world what we think is deserving of hearing doesn’t feel like it’s there AS much as just the need for being noticed for it is.

I love that these guys have all stayed with hardware. No mouse clicking. Click a kick here snare there. Thenba hi hat 16th notes. Then grab a midi pack some chord progressions. Then grab some bell samples from splice. Loved it. Real beat making.
@ukjamaican4488
@ukjamaican4488 Жыл бұрын
That sounded pretentious AF there’s no “real beat making” or fake beat making for that matter. An actual band that plays instruments could call what Alchemist does, “fake beat making”. What’s the difference between clicking a mouse and hitting a rubber pad? The end result of both methods is a beat
