A few observations from a 2800BH owner. That’s not the same kitchen as the 2800 which has more length in it. The result is a set of drawers next to the stove which are very handy as well as extra counter space which is a huge upgrade. On the 2800 the awning doesn’t cover the front door but it does cover the outside kitchen which is a bit further forward since the hot water heater is in that corner as well facing aft. Having the awning cover the outside kitchen is much more useful than the front door which we don’t use much. That being said if anyone suggested taking the front door out I’d be strongly opposed especially when in road mode. Being able to access the entire camper with the slide in is huge. I tow our 2800 right now with a 1/2 ton and I know others that do as well. We are upgrading to a 24 Silverado 3500 with the gas engine. The 2800 and the 2910 are big long trailers that are just more comfortable to tow with a HD truck. Also with the drop frame both of these trailers will be putting 1100-1300 lbs on the hitch which really taxes a 1/2 ton. And that’s the issue with 1/2 tons. It isn’t power to go up the big grades or brakes to get you down. It’s load carrying and stability which gets tested most on the interstates. It’s at highway speeds that the disadvantages of a 1/2 ton are moat apparent not in the mountains or on country back roads. The speed means the air can push the trailer around a lot more and that’s when the soft suspension of a 1/2 ton becomes a challenge. Our kids at least have no issues sleeping in the bunks while we watch TV in the evening. Those theater seats are extra comfy and I don’t find the viewing angle to the TV to be at all uncomfortable. On the whole for me the downsides of the 2910 (bigger, heavier, walk through bathroom, smaller kitchen, no awning over the outdoor kitchen) outweigh the private bunkroom of the 2910 with its extra storage.

They could frost bathroom window. I would like a larger 20 inch oven. Can they make longer model. I think one should offer little longer model. Do still make AC units have heat in them for cooler night 35 degree and up?. What about rear hitch for bike rack. Inverter wired to receptacle in kitchen for crock pot toaster. I have the 2022 model and I see some nice upgrades. The griddle is a nice add, the pulls on the cabinets are updated (older ones had a sharp edge which could do a number on the shins…) and the solar package is a nice touch. Overall, we love this layout as a family bunkhouse style camper. Can get the private rear bunk, but still manageable for 1/2 ton towing.

Such a well done and informative review of this unit. We were back and forth between 2800BH and 2910BH. Either could work great depending on the family situation. We thought through how we’d like to use the camper the most for our lifestyle, and we chose the 2910BH. We have young kids, one still in a crib/pack-n-play, and this layout is perfect. We are able to put kids to bed in bunk room and living room area, and then we close the pocket door between living room and bathroom. This lets us go back out and enjoy the campfire for a few more hours while kids sleep… then when we come in for the night, we use the bedroom entrance and still have access to our bathroom without disturbing the kids on the other side of trailer. And having all the pocket doors allows us to use the bathroom as an extension of our bedroom and gives us adults room to get changed much easier. So far for our situation, very pleased with our choice! You said it perfectly Josh, you can make this trailer as sectioned or closed off as you’d like, or you can have it wide open from end to end. The versatility is great. I understand people’s complaints about the walk through bathroom, but we love it. It’s huge, not crammed when showering/changing, and it feels like having a master bathroom attached to our bedroom, just like at home.

I really like the bunkhouse models and this one with the sliding door for the bunks is very cool. I prefer the setup of something like the Grey Wolf 26DBH because you could easily see the TV from the bunks, couch and dining table. The other feature that I would really want to have is an electric fireplace because it's just so handy to have when it's cooler outside so you're not needing to run the furnace.

I'd swap the middle cabinet and TV. We always carry a step stool so reaching the upper shelf would not be a big issue in-order to get a better TV viewing angle. I would go with a couch over the theatre seats with fixed middle arm. Saw a XLS 22MLE today. The shower is a bit smaller than I expected but we decided it is a better fit for us than the 23LDE due to its shorter length and better cargo capacity. Waiting for the new Alliance travel trailers and if they don't look like a fit we have decided to go with the 22MLE.

I love this one! So much storage. I agree about that TV, it needs to be tilted. The ottoman is really cool! Nice bathroom. I like that long counter, wish I had something like at at home. That bunkhouse is great. I like the privacy of it, and that there is dedicated storage for clothes, no sharing space with the pantry. I don't like that you lose it in road mode. I wonder if it's possible to flip the room, so the door slides open closer to the trailer door. As I write that though, I realize that would impact the camp kitchen. I love the rounded corners on the bunks. They give it an elevation, it makes for a beautiful guest room. Great trailer not only for kids, but also couples that want to travel together. And for my interests, camping with a friend, but having some private space.

My wish list includes a bunkhouse swap out or conversion option like Ember has created with the kind of inside screened patio, for every single bunk model on the market. That way I wouldn't have to immediately dismiss so many bunk models right out of the gate. Some folks just want room for an extra 2-4 folks, maybe once or twice a season, decade or lifetime and being able to utilize that space for themselves the other 90-99.5% of the time just makes absolute sense. There would be SO MANY more great offerings out there if the manufacturers would just get into the mindset of having these spaces optional if not convertible. Don't get me wrong, most folks don't want some kind of modular nightmare. Just a few more logical and well executed designs that increases the way spaces can be used without sacrificing a uniform look or feeling of continuity within the unit. I really feel that this is where the industry is going and a bit of a renaissance may occur. Or maybe I'm just a dreamer. That's probably it. Cheers! You're the best!

For the TV/storage conundrum - a pretty simple solution - Mount the TV "proud" of the cabinet slightly. Recess the cabinet doors to be flush with a simple finger pull or cutout. Have it on a backer plate of plywood that has two cabinet guides on it to be able to raise and lower the TV. Add positive bullet catches on the side in order to keep it up for travel or access to the pantry. Bam, fix both issues (TV angle, cabinet storage) in one fell swoop. :)

Yay! Finally get your take on our model 😂 We have the 2022 version, but not much is different…. We absolutely love it! No RV is perfect, but she is pretty close for us. There are three of us, and we wanted our daughter to have her own space and the sliding bunk door is perfect. We love the pass thru bath because its so much bigger to move around, and road mode doesn’t affect us too often - we travel only within a couple hours right now with family and two dogs, so we don’t make stops if we can help it… but having the bathroom option and second door to not disturb the bunk has been handy… the bedroom was identical to the 2800bh i think and we loved it- you can easily walk around the bed and get dressed without doing a dance into the walls 😂 and the storage space holds a lot! The tv is definitely a little high, but hasn’t been too annoying or a deterrent for us. But swapping it with a shelf or cabinet could be nice. The dinette is great for the three of us and I really like the extra storage ottoman and option to move it around…Everything on the outside for storage, kitchen and one sewer connection is amazing! I guess my only “complaint “ and its hard to call it that- but many of the cabinet doors in the living area could have taller openings to get things in/out- we have some items that would fit in some cabinets but we can’t get them through the smaller openings 😂 And maybe some more full outlets along side usb’s- and like many the bunks are one of each type outlet instead of both…. Overall it’s beautiful, well built, comfortable and we hope to have her for many years of family fun.

@JoshtheRVNerd Жыл бұрын
Entry Door is what prevents that. ANYTHING can flip on an RV... except that door. It needs to stay on that side And if the door overlaps with something like the slide, then you have to extend the RV a chunk which adds weight and cost SHOCKINGLY fast

The walkthrough bathroom feels too much in the living room for me, plus the bunks both dont get clear access to that tv so my kids would fight over the bunks. Really niceaccents though thanks for sharing

I really like this layout. The only thing I would want is a water pump switch in the bathroom for road stops. I'd have to go in the other door to turn it on and then go through the front door to use it. Then go back to the other door to turn it off. Or just leave it on for the trip.

Frankly, can't see much of a difference between the 22 and 23, so if you want this model snatch up the 22's if any are still available, cause they are usually cheaper than the 23's.

On the topic of inverters: In my last RV I had an inverter/solar charge controler/battery charger combo. It's charging the batteries from solar and shore power, routes shore power through to the outlets or (if there is no shore power), uses battery power/solar to power the outlets. I love that machine. Unfortunately it needs to be wired in between the shore power and the outlets to work - so it's really hard to add after the fact. I'd love a pre-wiring for that.
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd Жыл бұрын
There's only a few wired like that. Rockwood, Ember, Winnebago maybe? Or something else/
@michael_house
@michael_house Жыл бұрын
@@JoshtheRVNerd You're right - but unfortunately they are doing it wrong from what I've seen. Instead of wiring an inverter/charger/mppt unit in between shore power and the RV power (which would be the smart and way cheaper way to do it), they wire it up as a separate system which only supplies power to some of the outlets.
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd Жыл бұрын
@@michael_house The more complete change in the base wiring is something that's starting to be done out there but factories have trouble implementing a major systems-level change like that typically
@michael_house
@michael_house Жыл бұрын
@@JoshtheRVNerd I know. It is straightforward actually - they need to have the shore power inlet next to the pass-through storage/wet bay where the solar and battery wires sit. That way, it's easy to add a ups/inverter later. Imagine being the first manufacturer to implement that wiring change through all your RVs. That brand will be the only brand bought by Boondockers suddenly.

Hey Uncle Josh hope you're having a great day? I would like to see a electric fireplace space heater under the TV. That way on those cool days you don't have to fire up the furnace an use up your propane. I like the setup of this 2910 Imagine. I'm glad that you have the space if you have guest come along camping,or you have extra storage space.I'm glad that there is 2entry doors to the trailer. As always thank you Uncle Josh for giving us all the information good an bad on this Imagine2910 travel trailer.! Your number one fan Leonard from NC.! # Nerdherd!!!!!!!

As a woman, do Not like the window in the bathroom. No privacy. Weird. Like more bathroom storage instead. There are windows all over the place that one can open! I DO like the extra window in the private bunk room!

We liked this model and Jayco's version, but ended up with a 21 Alpha Wolf 26DBHL because those extra 3' of the box seemed to be too long for towing with a '17 Expedition EL "1/2 ton". I like that dry hitch weight is only 600 lbs and my daughter and wife drive separately. It's just me and son in the Ex and nothing else. Keeps us well within payload. Sometimes a kayak or bike on top. I added a shower slider to keep the water in the pan, tinted the windows to match the doors, added thin shades (why not included?!), and mounted a "40 tv on an arm to position anywhere. I wish I would've known Gander was a Camping World sister company. Horrible warranty service experience. Never again.

HMMM 🤔 I'd say. " Dump the bunks, put the kitchen in the back, swap places with the dinnett and theater seating, preferably a sleeper sofa and move the entertainment/ TV closer to the bathroom". It would be great that way but the only problem would be that they would have to add a second gray tank being that the bathroom sink and kitchen sink would be a lot further away to utilize the one gray tank and there would have to be a separate sewer hook up to drain it.. 🤔 I can understand why the bathrooms are always close to the kitchen so they can share the one gray tank. Oh well. It was just a 🤔.

Does Grand Design have good layouts? Yes. Does grand design put outlets in good places? Yes. Do they make their campers look pretty? Yes. Can you effectively cool it with one A/C in 100 degree heat on a 30 amp? No. Can your effectively flush drain your black tanks? No because of the type of tank design they’ve opted to go with and claim it’s “better.” Do your breaks work off the lot? No…I’ll never buy another grand design again never ever ever. We literally ran back to Jayco.
