I drove a car I disliked and it was a 2006 Chrysler 300 limited. The power was good but the steering was too heavy because it drove like a tank and the interior of it was ugly. There's plastic everywhere you look. That's how bad the 2006 Chrysler 300 limited is. Never EVER buy one. Buy a new one instead which is alot better and more improved.

I had an A4 Avant from 2011 and still to this day consider it one of the best cars I ever had. The design of the thing 10 years ago was incredible in my opinion, it never gave me any problems with reliability and since it was the 2.0 Liter Diesel, it consumed very little (it probably also polluted tons of NOx in the atmosphere, but hey no one's perfect). Owning now the latest A4 Avant, I have to say that the built quality was actually better in the previous gen and the design too was much better back in the day, should have just kept my old A4 😢
@madmikesch2453
@madmikesch2453 2 жыл бұрын
No worries, it is one of the cleanest Diesel-cars like the VWs too. All brands cheated most of them a lot more than VW. A Volvo was tested with 10 times more NOx than a VW Passat with 2.0TDI. In Germany the A4 is allways the winner in reliability in its class the last 30 years .

I still have a 2011 A5 with the 2.0TDI lump in it. It runs smooth as anything still to this day. Has nearly 150,000 miles/240,000 km on it. Never had an issue bar obvious wear and tear, replacing suspension components and tyres. Regular services and just basic maintenance and they can run for a long time. People seem to forget that you are supposed to maintain a car. Its not a one off purchase. Same with anything. You cant buy a pair of shoes and expect them to last years if you dont take care of them.

The issues is that you get 0 warning signs, no CEL, no weird running, just spontaneous failure. Other than that I absolutely love b8 a4 quattro, looks great, drives great, pulls decently hard. The design has aged fucking fantastically IMO, they still look modern and they are going on 13 years old.

My A4's a 2012, so not really plagued by the oil consumption issues. I absolutely adore my car, Ive had it for 4 years, just hit 100k miles, I did replace my turbocharger preemptively so I wont have to worry about it for a while. Super great car, if youre the type that stays on top of maintenance, don't let the early B8s scare you off from getting an A4. Best car Ive ever had, beats out my Old Mercedes E320, E500, S430, and BMW 550i by a longshot. Maybe not as fancy, but fun and reliable.

Adding another car to the list. The Saturn Vue Greenline Hybrid. The other Vue models aren't half bad, but the hybrids were designed in Germany, and shared virtually zero mainstream parts, and as such were complete lemons. I owned one, and after buying it with just over 100k miles, the ABS, TC, ESC, and Hybrid power system failed, leaving me in a 4000lb crossover being lugged around by a 150whp 4 banger with a 4-speed auto. On another note, why isn't the Dodge Dart on this list? They have so many recalls and reported issues it's not even funny anymore.

my dad bought the A4 with a 2.0 Tdi engine back in 2009. Damn that car is awesome. It has 330.000km on it, without any major damage. The only part that failed was the turbocharger, but that was not because of engine problems. It still is the most reliable and safest car of my family. Cruising fun fact: The car weights about 1500kg and feels really heavy. But its a god damn arrow on the highway. It feels stable, low and incredibly comfortable at speeds over 160kmh(i live in germany)
@Byefriendo
@Byefriendo 2 жыл бұрын
The TDI models of these cars are great, the 2.0TFSI + DSG combo is the real dud of the lineup (ask me how I know). And yeah they do feel really heavy, I suspect it is because they have the polar moment of inertia of a cruise ship having the big iron block engine hanging fully infront of the front axles, as well as the soft suspension and plenty of body roll.
@AlwaysHardstyle100
@AlwaysHardstyle100 2 жыл бұрын
I own a '09 Audi A4 Avant with the 1.8TFSI engine. As you said in the clip, I had to replace my engine costing me a healthy 6K. However, this was due to a broken chain tensioner. Never had my Audi leak or consume any oil. I did replace everything about the (new) engine. Like timing chain + tensioner, new valves, new seals, new pistons + rings, everything... Cost me a fortune, but love my Audi nonetheless and was totally worth it.

I myself daily a 2010 Audi A5, same CAEB I4 as the A4. The B8 era is known for oil consumption but just a simple catch can (45-50minute install for most beginner diy) will solve most of the burning oil issue; which is why the carbon builup is a common problem for any Direct Injection engine that leads to engine failure.

5:00 Got one of these, had it since new and yep! Oil burn and chain tensioner failure, both needing rebuilds. Thanfully the oil burn was free due to class action but the tensioner failure was spensy. If you can find one of these cars that's had the fixes done however (and the DSG fixes), they are actually a good buy. They have such a horrible reputation that they are pretty fuckin cheap. What other car can you get with looks that good, a fantastic interior and driving experience, all wheel drive, a 7 speed dual clutch and a torquey as hell 2 liter turbo engine for like 10k aud. Turbo swap and supporting mods will get you to 300-320 crank HP and you'll be keeping up with S4's too. Cars are absolutely slept on!

Jaguar X Type...Had two of them as family cars for many years and had very very few issues, once got picked up in a 250,000 mile estate that was being used as a taxi, driver said it was very reliable. Fuel consumption (gas mileage) isn't brilliant, 40 mpg from my 2 litre one and 33mpg from the wife's 2.2 auto version but they certainly weren't a terrible car in my experience. We kept updating them when they hit around 130,000 miles so had 6 different ones altogether. Now have the XE and find that a pretty good car also. Small point; the car at the end of your clip on X Types wasn't an X Type

I was relieved when it crashed and insurance totalled it. Don't buy this vehicle. If you want a truck thats smaller than a full sized, get a tacoma. Bought used 1999 Jeep GC in 2012 and it was nonstop problems, month after month. Gas hog too. But good handling and power. I young woman probably texting ran off the highway and plowed into my Jeep and totaled it. Probably did me a favor. Yet it hurt after almost eight years of repairs and improvements (like new K&N air filter, redone leather seat bottoms) and my thinking that just maybe we (me and the car) had reached a plateau and no more big issues. Looking now to buy a 2017 Honda Fit. Getting on in years and it will likely be my last car. I had a great time meeting all the mechanics and specialists in Puerto Vallarta, (which accounted for half my mileage over the eight years of ownership), but too old now to have another problemed vehicle!

I had bad oil consumption that, fortunately, my Audi dealer covered full pistons and rings replacement at 90k. Then a while later after expired warranty I learned about the timing chain tensioner defect that could cause the catastrophic engine failure mentioned in the video. At my $2k expense I had the timing chain system replaced. If I were currently in the market to buy I would consider a B9. Several improvements and I haven’t heard of any reliability issues. Anyone?
