Take a piece of heat shrink tubing (3/32 fits perfectly) and cut a small piece off - literally 2.3 mm. Slide this over the end of the end of the nub and past the thick neck part. Push the nub back in until the heat shrink covers the neck. Heat up to lock it in place. I did this with the CR touch disassembled. Its pretty easy. I used the included flathead with my ender 3 v2 and pried the shell apart. The magnet and nub come out and you can work with it easier. What you're basically doing is when the CR touch is in the 'resting' position it'll sit on the heat shrink and have a little more resistance against the magnet. This solved my rattling issues completely.

Glad it worked. I've switched to the BTT micro probe and it's been working pretty well, a little quirky at times, but I just couldn't get this damn thing to stop rattling lol

incase my previous comment is filtered for containing external links, there is a CR Touch version in Amazon (us) which shows a newer version of the CR Touch which has a silicon "casing" (or "socks" if you will) around the metal rod, that says "Upgraded silicon case, reducing rattling/shaking noise".

I did try that with some thin silicone hose, replicating that listing, but it unfortunately seems to be complete chance as to wether or not it improves things. It did a little but then not at all. I'm working on converting my printer to linear rails however which should make a big difference to smoothness and hopefully eliminate this.

I would be interested in seeing the inside of that solenoid ! Even though I think that would be a destructive process, I can't find anyone who has done it.

Is it possible for you to indicate which pins are connected to which of the component's terminals?

Ugh. My brand new CR Touch is driving me crazy with the rattle. I wonder if a rubber oring would work - the solenoid spring would pull the pin against the oring and hopefully create enough friction to stop the lateral movement that causes the rattle.

Mine is from the US with the “silicone” part on it already. It rattles like f’ing crazy. It’s my 2nd one and not any better. Ever have a final solution?

I didn't and changed to the Biqu Microprobe. Still not perfect but way better.

This is some serious 3am work! I thank you for this. I've got the same issue on an older CR touch. A new CR touch I bought doesn't have this problem, at least not yet... This video is about a year old now, did you end up with a solution?

No solution yet, working on a linear rail conversion to try and fix this and some other issues but with the x gantry together, it still happens. :( Might need to find a different mount and maybe cooling fan setup entirely that passes less vibration through or try the BTT abl sensor that seems to be relatively new.

whe whole part needs to be printed in the same part or in the same constraints to make sure that it actually is accurately getting in the hole, the metal part with the cr touch can also be moved. just something to think about.

Interesting. None of the 6 CRTouch that I have seem to have this issue... or maybe I just never noticed...?

Hmm, really? I wonder if maybe I just got a particularly bad unit or something, but it's definitely something quite a few other people have posted about. You can hear it in this video I posted a couple days ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5TCnaeqo8iFiM0 My x axis admittedly isn't like... the smoothest running and I do want to do a full linear rail conversion and get my machine running smoother, but even moving the x axis manually, or just while homing at relatively low speeds you can hear it jiggling around like that. It's even worse without the hotend fan active. If you hold it in your hand and shake left/right, even fairly gently, like it would be moving with your x axis, mine clicks noticeably even with this bracket added. I'd be curious if you notice it if you cranked your speed and acceleration up and did some basic travel moves with yours, if I did just get like, a bad one that some people get then that would honestly be kind of great since I could try to get another one as an exchange and actually have this working.

@@JunctionRunner Okay, yeah. Can confirm that none of my printers are makng that noise when I'm printing. I have Enders with Sprites, but modded to have quiet Winsin fans, so I should be able to hear something like that🤔

@@JunctionRunner Just got another Ender from someone else. It came with a CRtouch, and it has the rattle noise. I was wondering wtf that crinkling sound was every time the hotend moved, and realized it was probably the same issue you talked about. This is the only one I have that I did not directly purchase off Amazon. All 7 of the others do not have this issue, and I've purchased them all within the last year & a half or so

Lucky! 2/2 of mine have been bad. Want to send me one of yours? 😂 Ps. Trust me, you couldn’t NOT notice the rattle. It will drive anyone batty!

@@ArtTheEnemy I had to move to Bambus shortly after posting this comment. If you're interested in the ones I have, we could arrange something. All of my enders have ended up collecting dust due to my production

I probably should have put rant in the title to be fair. I did send creality an email with some images and thoughts on my attempt to fix it, maybe we'll see an improved v2, but I doubt it.

The whole cr touch design is stupid. It should be retracting completely.
