"Zooming in" on smaller differences may be relevant, though, depending on what you're examining. The "full" graph, starting at zero, can _also_ be used to _obscure_ differences that are real and relevant to a specific issue. Zero isn't invariably the more adequate baseline to better visualize data for any question.

That's very true, Petitio. These videos were made for junior high students, and the curriculum doesn't look at that perspective of graphs. It simply explains to students how graphs can be misleading in those cases where NOT showing "zero" as the baseline can imply something inaccurate.

@Doyle: Thank you so much for your comment. I was a 7th grade math teacher for 10 years. My videos were created a few years ago to allow students to review at home at their leisure anytime during the year. I'm glad you find this video useful.

Ha-ha. There are SO many great KZbin resources out there for help with math. I created these videos specifically for my students. So, I didn't take any actions to get a wider audience to notice my videos. However, I am glad that people like you are finding them, and you find them helpful. Thanks for the comment!

When you were listing what are misleading graphs you spelled axes instead of axis
@konstmath4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica! I didn't go back and watch the part you're referring to. However, if the comment was referring to MORE THAN ONE axis, the plural of axis is axes. :) Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope the video was useful to you.
