Who will be the Cincinnati Bengals' WR3 this season with Tyler Boyd no longer in town? Is Jermaine Burton a lock? What about Trenton Irwin, Charlie Jones, Andrei Iosivas or... Mike Gesicki?
Will the Bengals add a free agent or two before training camp? Will Jordan Battle have to beat out Vonn Bell at safety?
The guys answer those questions and a lot more on today's show!

I get what youre saying about jones and iosivas taking a step, and burton starting off strong but the way the wrs looked at the end of last year, Id have irwin at wr3, iosivas wr4, jones wr5. since ive never seen burton in an nfl game he has to be wr6. I hope they all end up boyd caliber but its a big step from now

Can't wait to see how it shakes out. There are things to like about all of these WRs. One thing that isn't talked about much is that, as of now, if blocking gets you on the field - Yoshi is being greatly underestimated

We've got terrible depth at interior o-line. We all hope Volson improves and plays more like he did the last few games of last year, but that is far from guaranteed and if he struggles again, than we've got a weakspot that the opps can exploit again

It's crazy how it was The Bengals vs The Chiefs 2 years in a row for the AFC Championship, series was 1-1, each team won by 3pts...yet they never made it Chiefs vs Bengals for the season opener. They chose to do Ravens vs Cheifs though, when it wasn't even as good of a game that Chiefs & Bengals normally is. Ravens/Lamar Jackson are the new media darlings. It was The Bills/ Josh Allen there for a few years. It's like no matter what they don't wanna give us our do. I'm sure this means we will get The Chiefs yet again towards the end of the season at the 4:25 slot Romo/Nantz. Which is fine but it's just crazy to me they went with The Ravens over us but then again not surprising at all...

Do you mean the slot receiver in place where Tyler Boyd played for us? I can also see him and Uno switching from wideout to slot at different times too. Man, that is going to be fun to watch. Tee split out wide on one side with Gesicki and Ja’ Marr and Burton taking turns in and out of the slot while the other is set out wide. What makes it problematic for defense’s is the rotation of Irwin, Yoshi and Chuck sizzle being incerted in place of any one are two of the three. The same goes for either Tanner(Hudson or Malcalcin) or Ereck All for Gesicki as well. We should be able to move the ball pretty much at will against any defense. Especially if we can run the ball. The offensive line should be able to dictate and provide whatever the situation necessitates.

Like I stated earlier Jordan Battle having been through the fire and he has excelled earns the right to start. Von Bell on the other hand deserves the rightful opportunity to beat him out. Let it be an open competition for the position because both will play a lot but Von is on the downward side of his game and Jordan has more upside to his. It is his position to lose while Von is the mentor and Jordan the student. It is the classic case of the master teacher and the prize pupil. We don’t really lose in anyway in this scenario.

Charlie got hurt early. He balled out on returns. One for 6 pts in spite of Sean Hokule. (Sp) don’t care) I have high hopes. I think we have a deep bench at WR/TE with Boyd gone. But, I agree it needs to be a reworked offense. Done correctly: Chase Brown and Zach Moss, Williams. Evans. Hopefully run game will start off early this year.

Really just going to have to see how last years guys progress. Doesn't seem like anyone has really sealed that spot yet. Jones to be the returner I imagine, but wr3 is up in the air. The real question is, can we run the football ? If we can run the ball well consistently, the passing game will be lethal. I think with the wheels Burton has , he will take some of the pressure off of Chase and Higgins. I don't think many people can hang with Chase 1 on 1 ....As far as the Dline goes on stopping the Run. Yes , we lost DJ Reader . But you guys continue to underestimate everyone we do have. DJ Reader was just another 5th round draft pick who turned himself into what he is today. I think the Bengals are going to sort of do what the Ravens did last year and have 3 safety’s that play a lot. Stone, Bell, and Battle. Tycen Anderson is coming. Ack from injury so he won’t play for the first month or so I’m thinking. I think they bring one of these UDFA up to play special teams while Anderson gets to full strength. I like the 2 safety UDFA’s they signed. Last year for the Ravens Geno Stone was not one of the starting safety’s. Marcus Williams was the FS and Hamilton was the SS. But when they played Hamilton in the slot Stone would take o e of the safety roles so they were all 3 on the field at the same time. It won’t be like years past where Bates and Bell never come off the field. We have to get Battle In the game. He did NOTHING wrong last year. All he did was start 7 or 8 games and make the fuckin All Rookie Team. That’s it. 74 tackles in 8 games. 74 tackles, 2 sacks, 6 pass breakups, 1 interception. Multiply all those number by 2 and you get some idea what this guy can do. Battle will get a lot of playing time this year. And when they have a great TE they are playing I think they bring Dax in for that. In 2025 Jordon Battle will be the Bengals starting SS and Dax Hill will be the starting nickel CB.

He will by winning the position straight up. Then Bell will back him up while fighting off Tycen Anderson who should challenge him for playing time. Bell should also get some reps behind Stone and Dax at the other safety position. Hill should be a true rover. Playing all over the place. He should play primarily behind Stone and Hilton while sometimes situationally at outside corner. Barring injury to a set starter, Dax Hill won’t be a starter but will play as much and maybe more than any starter. He should be on the field a lot. I likened him the equivalent of a basketball player six man who can and plays both guard positions along with the swing man. He is just that versatile an athlete. He should be employed to create problems for opposing offenses.

If I’m in charge of the Bengals this is what I would do. I would cut or waive Jalen Davis because we don’t need him anymore. Dax Hill is the backup and future nickel CB. And I would sign our old friend Tre Flowers at CB. He is still a free agent and he is 28 and still 6’3’’ 200 lbs with 34 inch arms and with 4.45 speed. He would be my veteran CB depth. Someone who can start if need be and do just fine. I love his length and he is a good player. So waive Jalen Davis and sign Tre Flowers. And you aren’t signing Dalton Risner on a 1 year cheap deal. He wants a long term pricier contract. So there is no need to sign him unless you are giving up on Cordell Volson. I am not. Ever he showed steady improvement from his first game in the NFL to his last one. Slow and steady improvement. And if the best ability is availability then Volson is great. He has never missed a snap neither has Orlando Brown. We have the backup center now in Matt Lee. Y’all can go ahead and pencil him in. He is the backup center this year. Now they may still keep Trey Hill on the practice squad as a backup Guard and center. So we have our starting linemen. Then we have Dante Smith, Cody Ford, Matt Lee, Jackson Carman and Jaxson Kirkland. I would feel comfortable going with those guys. Cody Ford was a starter for 3 years and Jackson Carman when he is playing left tackle is pretty good. Dante Smith can play tackle pretty well and guards. Kirkland I haven’t seen him play yet in the NFL but in college he was dam good. Played RT and both guard spots. Was 1st team All PAC 12 3 times. 2 of them at guard and one at RT. He is big as fuck. He has the body of a tackle at 6’7’’ 328. That new tackle they signed as an USFA this year Eric Miller out of Louisville looks like he could make the team. He was a standout offensive tackle at Purdue and the Louisville. He played RT for Louisville last season and allowed 2 sacks over 920 snaps. He is 6’8’’ 311 and I don’t have his measurements but I could see a young hungry kid like this bumping Dante Smith or Jackson Carman right off the team and onto the practice squad.
@NathanDean79
@NathanDean79 Ай бұрын
The Bengals need a veteran CB like Tre Flowers and they need to waive Jalen Davis. They don’t need a RB. They have 4 on the roster and 2 UDFA’s. They don’t need a DT either because they have 4 spots filled for sure and the. The 5th spot will be a competition between Zach Carter, Jay Tufele, Travis Bell, and d Devonsha Maxwell who did t play at all last season and who is the all time sack leader in the conference he played in college. Be played for Chattanooga. I’m exited to see what Maxwell can do. I hope either he or Travis Bell make the team. I would send Zach Carter down to the practice squad. And Travis Bell is a nose tackle which is what we need to back up Jackson. Bell is 6’1’’ 310 but he is still a NT just like Tufele at 305 lbs is.

Yes I could see that UDFA offensive tackle Eric Miller bumping either Dante Smith or Jackson Carman right if the team and onto the Practice squad. Miller is an Ohio boy and played for Purdue for 3 or 4 years and for Louisville this past year. I have his measurements and they are pretty good in most cases. He is 6’8’’ 311 lbs and has 10 inch hands and 33 5/8 inch arms and did 24 reps on the bench press which is about average or a bit above average strength. He had a vertical of 25’’ which isn’t great but just ok and he has a broad jump of 8’10’’ which is above average so he has ok explosion numbers and he ran a 5.54 so he has terrible long speed. Well below average there but the most important numbers for an OT are the agility numbers and he had a 3 cone of 7.70 which is good and a 20 yard shuttle of 4.90 which isn’t good. So he has ok agility and ok explosion numbers. So he has the size on his side. Dante Smith wasn’t like great or anything in his testing but was better than Miller. But Smith has been on this team for 3 years and has started 1 game and played in 3. Time to move on.

If they pickup another RB it needs to big a bigger short yardage back. McKinnon? They already have 4 small backs. With cap space still available, wait until after the June 1 cuts for depth pieces. Battle was rated the 8th best safety per PFF with an 82.5 grade. Vonn Bell never posted a grade that high in his career. Last year PFF grade 63.9. No way I'm starting Bell over Battle.
@geraldparrish1625
@geraldparrish1625 Ай бұрын
Agreed. Now don’t get me wrong, I really like Bell. I love that he’s back and feel as though he should have never left. Vonn was the hold over piece that we were supposed to keep in place when Bates parted ways through free agency. He (Bell) is the glue and would have started last year while helping Dax gain his barrings starting beside him. There wouldn’t have been any need for Nick Scott. But it is what it is. So Jordan Battle eventually beat Scott out and excelled in doing it. He (Battle) deserves to be the starter now. Let Vonn back him up while mentoring the secondary. Help Tycen Anderson and the young safeties produce. Let Dax play a free lancing high bred defensive back. Playing some spot safety behind Geno Stone and slot corner behind Mike Hilton. The guy is versatile so use him that way. He then gets plenty snaps without starting like a six man in basketball. If need be he can even play alittle outside corner too. Create a role for Hill where he can shine and be a star. CTB and DJ Turner are the starting corners with DJ Ivey being one of the backups. Mike Hilton the starter in the slot with Dax and Newton as the backups there. The secondary is set.

Elite size poor explosion grade and okay agility grade. For the Center position Trey Hill RAS is 2.02. He has poor speed and very poor agility. This is the main reason this guy is not any good. Why the hell do they draft him?? Matt Lee RAS is 8.62 with good size elite explosion great speed and okay agility. He is absolutely perfect for a center. Yes I love Tyler Boyd but he isn’t fast enough to play outside WR in my opinion. He ran 4.58 when he came into the league. Do you think he is faster than that or slower at age 29? I’m betting slower. He has great hands and hardly ever drops a pass. Jermaine Burton also has great hands and in 4 years of college only dropped 3 passes and dropped 0 passes in 2023. And he runs 4.45 but plays even faster than that. Burtons 10 yard split is faster than Jamar Chase. Charlie Jones runs 4.43 and Iosivas runs 4.43 as well but again he looks faster than that on the field. We have a kick ass WR room right now. I would be comfortable with ANY of these guys starting. Irwin, Jones, Iosivas,Burton any of them can be starters. I think what they will do this year is give Burton some slot reps and outside reps and also give Jones slot reps and outside reps. I think they will give Iosivas some of these snaps too. I think All of our WRs will contribute this year. We now have a deep WR room.

You’ll see.👀👁️There’s a reason Zac and everyone in the draft room got super excited when they were able to draft him in the middle of the third round number #80 overall. A steal out of a wide receiver rich and deep draft. Jermaine Burton was easily a top five wide out. The fourth best prospect in this years draft. There is Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabors, Rome Oduniz then Jermaine Burton. Character issues put another half dozen or more wide outs in front of him. Pushing him back to ten and even out of the top ten. Some pundits even had him out of the top fifteen. That is why he went in the third. The Bengals draft room was ecstatic to nab him. They also benefited from inside information from Burtons trainer TJ Houshmenzada.

So the Ravens get the opening NFL kickoff game vs the Chiefs for Thursday night football to kick off the NFL season,but the Bengals didn’t. The Bengals actually beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game in 2021 to punch their ticket to SB 56. The next year they go to the AFC Championship game again but lose in a nail biter because the Bengals O line was decimated,they still almost pulled it off. So in back to back AFC Championship games the Bengals get snubbed by Roger Goodell and the NFL front office. But the Ravens who hasn’t even beaten the Chiefs in the playoffs and lost at home last year in the AFC Championship game get to open the season. Hahaha! This is our revenge season! Plain and simple! We are coming for the Chiefs and anyone else who gets in the way! Who Dey!!

People think I’m crazy when I say we shouldn’t have let Hakeem Adeniji walk. Well he has an RAS of 7.80 with an elite explosion grade. After Mims and Matt Lee that would be 3rd on the whole fam team. If the Browns cut waivers or sign him to their practice squad I would quickly get him. He can play 4 positions on the line pretty well. I am more comfortable with Adeniji and Ford than I am with Trey Hill, Dante Smith, and Jaxson Carman at any position but left tackle. Adenijis 7.80 ras also blows away Jonah Williams.

Yeah why handicap the team why be predictable you want Jermaine 2 be on the field only when going deep PREDICTABLE defense will figure that out and i like Irwin but he couldn't get no SEPARATION NOTHING like the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP idc if he knows the play book inside & out upside down how will Cin's befit when Irwin cannot get separation now Charlie who knows what he's going to B yoshi is special he is a raising star and the guy who's going too take tee job when ever he walks the TE & Jermaine is the 2 players that should have the most time at slot unless Charlie can show something yoshi should come in for chase & tee to give them a breather

Jackson Carman is only good at left tackle. He is a little better at RT. At guard he is atrocious. Cody Ford is ok at RT but a little better at guard. Dante Smith I’m not sure if he can play guard but is ok at tackle. Trey Hill isn’t good at guard or center. He is just too dam slow and when he tested and got that RAS of 2.02 he wigged 318 well he weighs 335 now so if he did the same tests again he would have a sub 2 RAS

He is also younger than Boyd who is gone. He signed with the Titans. Folks are comparing Burtons chances of wr3 with the other three wr Trenton Irwin, Charlie Jones aka “Chuck sizzle” and Andrie Losivas aka”Yoshi”

I bet if Cin's drafted a WR who's only played 1 position slot you all still say the same thing o he not a true slot wr like Tyler was well nobody can come in have the connections with Joe till they get out there an play it take practice & playing time bro an i bet if Cin's drafted pukka last year instead of the RAMS he would sit on the bench mostly since bengals don't like starting rookies & having chase tee Tyler he would kelp the bench warm

If you are referring to Jermaine Burton. Then we will see. He only started and starred for two of the elite college programs the last four years. Two with Georgia and two with Alabama. Time will tell. I say it will show forth and prove itself in the preseason as well as training camp.
