Been such an amazing season for my wife and I so far! Last year was learning, looking, but not eating. This year has been superb! Our first common puffballs, amethyst deceivers, porcelain, and penny buns were consumed two weeks ago! Plus, yesterday we discovered an abundant growth of hidden, well off the beaten track, penny buns, all too far gone to harvest, but we know where they are for next year! Out for a stroll with little hope of finding much as we weren't really going to our usual hotspots, and what do we find, right next to the footpath, only a beautiful wood blewitt!! Absolutely delicious, and another mushroom on our list and identified and found! A lot of this is thanks to you, Marlow, so please know your videos are inspiring, educating, enlightening and enriching our lives. Thank you, Sir, sincerely! 🤍🍄

I've always thought of the Meadow Waxcap as a very underrated mushroom. Delicious fried in butter and served on toast 😋

I was interested by your comment about them growing with moss. Whilst out running today I found a group of scarlet and meadow waxcaps growing on the southern edge of a wood, a good 20m from grass. However they had a nice sunny spot in a lot of moss - seems to support the theory! They were however, rather alarmingly, full of tics hiding in the gills....ughhh.

Ughhh exactly, tics are the number 1 danger for foragers imho!

Thank you very much for this information! I have been picking winter chanterelles and these look quite similar but do not have the yellow stem and underside. Very tasty too!

Brilliant timing! I thought I saw some on my way home from work tonight, now I know I did. Guess what's for dinner tomorrow. 😜👍🍄

We're lucky enough to have the pale subspecies (var. pallida) in our field. Awesome fungi

@@WildFoodUK1 Mid Wales! There are still one or two lingering but it seems their season ends a bit earlier than the normal meadows, which have only just started appearing here. Perhaps I should email pictures to your welbsite

I understand why you'd prefer no Latin. Judging by your "spelling" it might be a tad above your skill set.
