We've got a new tractor in, and it's orange! But for all you Deere lovers, it came with a J.D. MX8 mower. And we're gonna put both to the test as we mow half of our field today, hoping desperately nothing overheats or breaks, as has been the pattern lately. To see how everything fares, well you'll have to watch the video! Mowing a big field with a Kubota M7060 tractor and John Deere MX8 rotary cutter. Enjoy!

Almost a year? I also have an open station M7060 on order for the past 4 months...wonder if it'll come through this year. And yet, there's one for sale in Chili, WI! Hard to tell if it's exactly what you or I wanted thought. Around here, the dealer's focus is big CaseIH row crop equipment, and Kubota buyers take back seat. Also, I doubt this dealership has the volume to get priority in Kubota's allocation system. Hard lesson. Next time, if there ever is one, I'll drive an hour to a high-volume Kubota dealer.

@@GoodWorksTractors excuses, excuses lol...one inexpensive thing you might want to look into is a very strong suction cup camera mount thing...admittedly I don't know what they are called but there's a guy from the UK that does car driving/review videos and I've seen a full dlsr camera held up on the guys windshield, had to be some very strong suction type device. If I can find them reasonably priced I'll let ya know. I did a video of me golfing before using what I call "hatcam" it's a baseball style had with a suction clip so you can put a smartphone camera on your head. It works surprisingly well and was less than $20. They also make a chest harness type that I'm thinking about getting too. :-)

@@GoodWorksTractors that's why we all tune in. It's interesting to see what dealers get in and what kinds of uses the machines can have and how they handle the tasks at hand. I found your channel when I was trying to make up mind on either a Iseki TG5570 or a JD 4066r. Ultimately I coughed up for the JD, I knew what it was capable of, partly through use of a 4720 and partly watching KZbin videos. I speced mine up fairly high, but there were 4 main factors in it 1 it has a Yanmar engine, 2 factory integration of FEL, 3 parts and dealer support 4 electric 3pt control. It's doing veg work and I need repeatable precise control. The Iseki is a great machine but no fel integration it's an aftermarket, power shuttle box, mechanical 3pt. Advantages no emissions system it's an old school 3L non turbo 60hp reliable but getting on in years now.

Just finished cutting 20+ acres with my MX5400 (shuttle shift w/cab) and a 6' cutter with temps in the mid to high 90's and it did great! It took a while for sure but I couldn't be happier with the tractor. The funniest part is I told the wife that we were going to eventually have to get a flex wing cutter (got the 6' for keeping the wooded areas cut) but she didn't think so because they are so expensive. But after spending a few hours behind the wheel the wife said "you're getting a flex wing cutter!" lmao!

Great video and info for the first time tractor owners to see the different models, brands and transmission set ups!! How many acres of clear/open ground will you be cutting at this new farm?? As a comparison I’m cutting 60 acres of open ground on a farm I bought a few months ago with a New Holland 125hp 16 x 16 power shift and 3 pt 10’ rotary cutter and can run between 6-7 mph in growth like you were cutting today. That average converts to about 6.5 acres and hour at 9’ wide. That said unless you and to spend all your free time mowing you will need a much larger tractor or you will need to hay/crop the open ground to maintain it. You have a really pretty piece of property there!!! Enjoy it!

Thank you Gene. These two fields have around 18-20 acres of mowable area. I'm opening up another field on the west side with another 6 acres. I've considered opening up more than that as there used to be another field 60 years ago that was probably 8-10 acres as well. That will take some time though. I agree, need a bigger mower. This was just a demo of this setup.

For all their numerous advantages hydro drives, at compact and utility size at least, do have at least one major disadvantage. Namely, efficiency. That shows up in 2 major ways these days, waste heat in the hydro system and lower HP at tires on hydro machines. Used to show up at PTO HP as well, but that gap has been significantly narrowed in modern tractors. And, tbh, not sure how much practical difference HP at tires makes on most machines in most use cases.

Neah, only about 6" or at least trying for 6"! Don't get me wrong, I like mowing, but do want to be as efficient as possible, ha!

@@GoodWorksTractors I can relate whether I'm brush hogging or using my self-propelled mower in the suburb. Looking forward to seeing if you can hook that up to your back wing on the Kubota.

How do you like the MX8 as a cutter? To add to that question, how do you like the semi mount model compared to a 3 point or pull type? I have an opportunity to purchase a semi mount MX8 with hydraulic offset for a great price but i'm not sold on it yet.

You can defiantly turn sharper and faster! If your mowing some smaller fenced off sections I would prefer this over a pull type.

Wish I could get a bigger tractor to my property. My old fields are going to take forever with my tractors. Do you think a 1025r or a B7610 could handle a 5ft brush hog or flail mower on very hilly and rough terrain?

Check out ttwt he has done quite a few videos with what some would call oversized equipment on his 1025r might be able to give you some recommendations
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 3 жыл бұрын
I would not put a 60" cutter on a 1025r as it's typically too heavy to lift it up on the 3 point. a 60" flail mower will work though. I covered it in my video comparing a brush hog vs flail mower.

@@GoodWorksTractorsThanks watched that one as well. Do you think a 60inch with hammers in heavier brush would be too much for the 18 pto hp to handle?

Great video! As always. We are having a bit of a family feud at the family farm,my uncle has a JD 6400 and mx8 cutter I have a Kubota L4310 and L6060. I have been looking at the Rhino TS12 which I priced out yesterday on your site 😁 “My uncle oh your little tractor can’t pull a batwing and you don’t need 12 feet my 8 footer is just fine” Needless to say. I hit the like button but I won’t share THIS video unless I want to end up on Steve Harvey 😂
