I did pizza delivery back in college and it was honestly one of my favorite jobs that I have worked. There were nights where you would do REALLY well with tips, and other nights where you would get a free pizza that a customer never came to pick up. The shifts would also go by super fast because you were always on the move...There was really nothing to complain about other than some wear and tear on your car. You got the right idea though....Even if you wouldn't get a tip, you just smile and say "Thanks for ordering from us, enjoy the food!". There were actually a few customers that were known as "no tippers" that started to tip me later on because I was pleasant to them every time I would go out. My less friendly coworkers never got a tip from them lol. Gotta win em over with kindness!

It's crazy to me how they all get upset because they don't get tipped enough. In my country, a tip is a voluntary thing, and we decide how much we'll tip to them. They don’t pay the drivers of food delivery, just like they don’t pay servers at restaurants. It is the culture to allow people to choose what to tip according to service provided, however there are a lot of people who think that means zero tip is fine as well. Zero is never fine.

They don't get paid enough, and they have to pay for their own gas and extra repairs on their cars, no benefits or protections for the independent contractors. If you are in the U.S. you should always tip a decent amount except in very rare circumstances. Don't take advantage of people who are already being ripped off by the company they work for.

Well they deserve more than an hourly wage job because they use their own vehicle and pay to replace, repair and maintain it 2-3 times as often as the average person. If they take 15-20 min to make 1 delivery then do the math. Generally a $5 tip is good. You could say to the person ordering, “how long should they wait for a service they refuse to pay for?”

@@maryjam6056 I agree that is slave labor but that’s only if either party doesn’t pay. It is how the service industry has always worked in the US and if it stopped working like that YOU (the customer) will be paying their wages regardless because the price of every product would go up accordingly. At least now you have the freedom to tip according to the quality of the service, which is the point of tipping. It is the honor system and an extremely American concept. Could be a beautiful thing and is when decent people are involved.

As for the food delivery videos.... this is is exactly why I NEVER>>>EVER use Doordash and others to order food. i simply will NOT tip you before you deliver... ever. I don't tip the waiter/waitress at a restaurant before I even sit down and order.... so why should I tip you 1st just so you will deliver it. NOPE... never gonna happen.

@9:20 TV delivery: Those customers doesn't seem truthful... 1st: If the box was empty, then they would have noticed the lightness while on the porch... 2nd: Why would the husband need to help her if the box was that light? 3rd An empty box wouldn't of made noise like that when thrown/dropped... I think the TV was fine and they just wanted to make a claim that the driver stole the TV, so they could get another TV...

If someone threw my TV on the floor I'd lie and claim they stole it too. It isn't just about getting a free TV it was about justice and framing the guy, getting him fired for theft. Theft is another level up from delivery roughness bc theft would actually get him fired which was probably their goal. It's called justice I would do the exact same thing as them.
