Idle Air Assist Delete - Civic Si

Continuing from the fuel rail install, finally did the iaa delete on the 8th gen Civic Si. Purpose is to clean up the engine bay with unnecessary hoses.

The ticking sounds like my car with the injectors.. Sounds Normal... Especially when its cold. I know I have to change my tension and idler pulley.. Put that will sound like a rattling bearing sound!

Yeah thanks bro, I guess the kseries injectors are just loud and noticeable. And yeah the other pulleys are noisy as well lol. Love the build bro!

put end of flat top screwdriver on top or side of injector and put handle to ur ear while car running. try all injectors you’ll hear if one sound different

I know ticking for older Honda engines means needing a valve adjustment, but I'm not exactly sure why yours is ticking after the idle assist delete. Either way, good video! 🤘

@@HighBeams Yeah, a bunch of Prelude guys also block off their fast idle thermo valve that connects to the throttle body which also takes the car a bit longer to warm up lol. I still have mine tho

Our injectors for some reason are wicked loud .. also the valves are pretty loud as well , and IMO It’s more of a sick mechanical sound that I love hearing in cars ! :)

It looks like it was snowing? Down here in va it’s chilly but not that cold. That fuel rail though looking fresh and clean. If you could would you trade for a coupe? Or would you just save and buy one and keep your sedan?

The ticking is happening because of your pcv valve you want to replace that port or plug it up

Nope the fuel didn’t really effect anything. Only if you change the injectors I’m guessing. Idle air takes a lil while to warm up in cold temps. Glad to help lol ✊🏾

The 8th gen injectors have a loud tick and when it’s cold out you hear it more mines the same way idk why but that’s how they are

Yeah basically it’s mainly to clean up the engine bay and remove any unnecessary lines. The only con is sometimes in the winter, car takes a while to warm up

Any benefits to this? will this make the run cooler overall? IAAV Valve allows more air in to increase idle which seems nice during very cold starts when you’d need to drive off fairly quickly. But i would imagine the car would run hotter since it gets up to temp a bit more quicker.

Yeah it’s mainly just to clean up the engine bay, especially when you add a fuel rail. It does sacrifice a bit of time it takes the car to warm up during cold weather, but not too bad at all. Car temps should run the same, just the cold starts get affected.

I did this on my rsx. My plug only goes a 1/4 of the way in. It threads fine until it gets about half way then get super tight. I've seen people do their's and it flush. Not sure why mine doesn't want to go down futher. It got plenty of room left to fit flush.

Yeah mine didn’t go down flush all the way as well, looks about half or more. As long as the thread locker is there it should be fine. I wanted it flush as well tho!

Delete the throttle body coolant lines next for more engine clean up. Your manifold will always be ice cold. Which is more power. As for the ticking, not to worry it's normal it's probably the injectors or the valves. K20s are loud in general when it comes to ticking.

Good advice, I didn't know those coolant lines could be deleted. I'll definitely look into that sounds good! Yeah I also read kseries injectors make that sound so its normal, thanks again for the advice.

I did this mod. Only, I didnt take off the sensor. I just plugged everything. Now I'm noticing my idle is going kind of crazy. I have a stock engine.. what should I do?

Damn I’m not sure, this mod does raise up the idle a bit. I think resetting the ecu by taking off the battery terminal might help. Or hondata

Helps the car warm up and idle, but it can still function without this hose. Only cleans up the bay!
