VICTORIA -- The national Idle No More movement made its way to the BC Legislature today.
The protests show no signs of slowing as activists across Canada brought their call for protection of First Nations rights to streets across Canada.
They are angered over Bill C-45. The omnibus legislation strips the government of its duty to consult with First Nations on environmental issues and they say tramples on their rights.
A flash mob round dance at Victoria's Bay Centre saw dozens turn out in support. This was followed by a gathering at the Legislature where many called for change.
The movement was sparked after a Northern Ontario Chief began a hunger strike near Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Chief Spence wants the Prime Minister to open a dialogue about aboriginal poverty but so far he has refused.
