As an American, and a Veteran... I can only shake my head in shame. Leadership not being held accountable, tribalism rending truth as an "alternative facts" based view, and a leaning towards Authoritarian worshipping party. The erosion of the separation of Church and State is going to be the thing that scares me the most... The United States is no longer the "shining beacon on the hill" to aspire towards no longer exists... now we're the case study when the electorate and citizenry is ill-informed, uneducated and fed a steady diet of lies, fear and self-loathing. Someone else pointed this elsewhere but the voter turnout appears to be well down compared to the 2020 election, mostly to the Democrats detriment. In 2020 Biden got 81 million to Trump's 74 million, while in 2024, Harris got (with 87% reporting) 66 million to Trump's 71 million. The 2020 census estimated the population of the United States at 331.4 million. The voter turnout will be lower than 50%, the majority of American's did not vote. And maybe that's the question, why did so many not vote at all? Given how vital this election has been presented as by both sides, why did so many choose not to participate?
@PaulaXismСағат бұрын
I went to the trouble and looked up the eligible voter total.. Surprisingly only 231 million.. So there are over 100 million people living in the country who aren't eligible to vote.. that's worrying.. that's over 1/3 of the population. I can't break out how many of those are children/felons
@khairulhelmihashim2510Сағат бұрын
different sides of the same coin.
@christina3maria37 минут бұрын
In 2020 voter turnout was high because of the pandemic. That may sound counterintuitive, but the pandemic caused a lot of states - even conservative states - to relax guidelines around mail-in voting and make it more accessible. Not only are those relaxed guidelines that were a result of the pandemic now gone, but in every state the Republicans had any semblance of control in they tightened voting restrictions and access even more than before the pandemic. When turnout is high, Democrats do better; when it's low, Republicans do better. If there was any doubt of that before, it's gone now. Conservatives are going to keep tightening the noose around voting access. Nationwide mandatory voter ID and poll tests are right around the corner.
