I'm 50 years old, idles are the best band musically emotionally and spiritually I've listened to in the past 30+years, and the best band I've seen live since Nirvana, not comparing, just mean for raw energy and depth of soul, The world needs more bands with something real to say desperately.

I too, believe IDLES to best musically, lyrically and with a great social conscience. Lyrics like "if someone talked to you, the way you do to you, I'd put their teeth through!! Love yourself, love yourself!!" Their stage presence is engaging and very unique (do miss seeing Bowen performing in his 'Y' fronts😂) I'm 58 and these guys give me ENERGY when listening to them. Few weeks ago had on my headphones and was getting into singing along to 'the Lover' got to the bit about 'eat shit' x6 and my son said "what the ? are you listening to? All I hear is you saying about eating shit!!!! Please to say he is now coming along to their concert in chch, NZ on his birthday 27/10

I wonder why they dislike being referred to as a punk band? What do they refer to themselves as? I mean… It’s clearly punk rock!
@AbelBodehi7 ай бұрын
@@richelliot99It’s just the negative connotations behind the idea of ‘punk’ that they don’t really like. Not the genre or the sound itself. Just felt that should be cleared up. They wouldn’t make music in this genre if it didn’t impact them greatly.
@alexbmac5 ай бұрын
😢I wonder if it’s more a gut reaction against the media’s lazy desire to pigeonhole everything new and how once you are so labelled it might limit you if you want to deviate. “They’re doing ____ wrong!” What was Bowie? He wisely sidestepped categorization all his career and so never became “old.” Look what happened to grunge, whatever it was. Some of those bands like Green River sounded punk, some were kinda folky. So I understand why they are leery even as I agree with you there are punk elements there.

Patiently waiting. I love the way you guys have evolved in your work through each album. I’ve watched many interviews you’ve done as a band, and on KEXP, and what stands out to me is how well you guys know yourselves and what you want. The haters out there hate because they haven’t been able to rise and expand towards same level of authenticity and openness that you guys have. And you’ve reached a global audience with that transparency. I’m a forever fan. Love from Cleveland.

I′ve known this band for just a month, discovered them thanks to Peaky Blinders, and I really don′t know what happened. They′ve started something inside me like maybe two or three bands before them, and I am a person that constantly listens to new music. There′s something about their perfect balance between a very powerful post-punk music and a strong, aggressive, tormented punk voice, combined with very meaningful lyrics that just sends shivers down my spine. Somebody might think this is just angry and violent music, but it doesn′t take much to understand the vulnerability and struggle behind that violence. Personally I love how they use this aggressiveness to take apart the emblem of masculinity, the idea of perfection that social media provides us everyday and the still deeply racist, homophobic and sexist society in which we live in. Also they′re helping me going through everyday′s shit and teaching me the importance of sharing, one of my biggest problems for a while now. They bring me joy and positivity and I really can′t wait to see them live, I′m sure it′s going to be a cathartic experience.

Thank you idles for bringing raw, brutal, but also wise and beautiful music to a shitty World that's falling apart. We really needed you! Can"t wait to see you live, i think i'm gonna motherfucking explode of pure bloody joy when that happens!

I'm alright. Thank you IDLES for giving me a place where Joy is an Act of Resistance. Where my frustrations can be screamed out and the void can be filled with love, light, community and connectivity. Cause love is the thing.

..."Said the liar to the congregation." Song was brilliant when I first got to listen to it. Meeting Joe, seeing his humility, and now watching this seemingly goofy video, this songs a genius way of stating how much you're hurting but trying to shrug it off and keep moving forward for your better self, or whatever you've left of your former self to mend. Sometimes getting off the bike isn't a choice because you've too many people riding 'with' you though; almost like some of us need someone to say, "Hey, pull over. Mend. Breath. Slow down. You'll be good, but you owe it to yourself to take the time to get that way." I love this band.
