YES! acne doesn't get enough positivity. Every time i searched how to be happy with my acne, it'd come up with basically 'how to fix your face because its wrong'' videos
@bempoucasombra7098

It's understandable why there are so many articles and videos about minimizing/erasing acne tho. It's not a good idea to allow little blisters with pus inside to roam free on your skin, it can lead to many complications (fungi infevctions, intense scarring, etc) and theres no positive side to it. You can either treat it or learn to live with it.

Because its classified as a skin disease -you know a disease, things people usually try to heal. Humans have an instinct find obvious physical indicators of disease to be unappealing. This is why an even clear skin is considered attractive in all cultures of the world. The only people who like how acne looks intentionally emotionally conditioned themselves to like it. Learn to live with it and be emotionally okay reguardless or learn how to treat it, but dont be suprised most people don’t want raised discolored bumps all over their face

yes, because acne is wrong. would you change your outlook on a broken leg or would you go to the doctors to fix it? Acne is not something to 'accept', sort it out. This is coming from someone who has suffered from acne for years, theres so many treatments out there nowadays you've got no excuse, please dont 'accept' having acne.

Daisy Spruce Please ignore the answers that are in here , I get what you said, I don't think they get your point of view, of how we have to fell shame for something that we can't control or that "love yourself" don't always means acept or show all kinds of body or skin or face.

People might think this means "having acne is beautiful" but I think this means "It's completely ok to have acne". Alot of people go through it but I think it's really rude to point it out on someone. Because most likely they are already trying their best to get their skin as healthy as possible; they know that it's there and they know it looks crazy but they don't want it to be the main thing people see. For those who do suffer from acne, don't try to rush it and don't overdo it. It takes time, it won't go away overnight. Before you know it you'll look amazing :^)

You're still acting under the assumption that this kind of cystic hormonal painful acne is a result of greasy skin & cheap cleansers, something that is unhealthy and needs to be cleaned up....completely anti the message this video intents to tell.
@Robro345
@Robro345 6 жыл бұрын
I know it can be the result of genes too. My grandfather had it, my dad has had it, now it's my turn to go through it. I wasn't trying to say it's unhealthy or something that needs to be clean up but I was trying to say not to stress over it too much. I know people who go crazy when they miss a day of washing their face/body.

But I do think there's a point to where it does need to be treated or seen by a doctor. There have been many horrible cases of acne where it can take over people's neck and faces.

This is so important. I have struggled with acne for 10 years. I'm 24 now, and it's still an issue. People need to be more accepting and kind. I can't tell you how many times I've had people say things like "you should do something about your skin", "is this contagious?", "maybe you don't take enough care of your skin". It hurts. Trust us, we're already doing something about our skin, no need to be a POS about it.

You’re definitely not the only one. People are very mean about it too even though it’s something we can’t help. Body acne is almost more damaging to self esteem than face acne because makeup can go on your face but there becomes a point where foundation on your shoulders, chest, and back becomes a hassle

I don’t know what it’s like to have body acne and I’m certain it comes with its own forms of self esteem and body image issues. All I know is that it’s hard having face acne because your face is the window to who you are and what most people focus on when interacting with you. It’s also the first thing you see when looking in a mirror. That being said, I’m sure body acne would be really detrimental to your self esteem about your body and make you afraid to ever go swimming or even be intimate with your partner.

I've been suffering from back acne for the past 10 years. I haven't worn anything to reveal my back ever since. Now I started having acne on my arms as well, so I can't wear tank tops. It's crazy how much people will judge you and bully you for something you not only have no control over, but also doesn't affect them in any way.

This. Is. Amazing. I have never ever seen a magazine showing real skin before let alone skin with acne or rosacea or scaring. Acne and acne scaring has been a huge part of my life and self confidence since I can remember and seeing a video like this being posted on a fashion magazine's page means a lot and I am sure it will on many people who are dealing with acne.

So in the comments im seeing a lot of stuff along the lines of 'acne is ok, but its still not beautiful'. But why isnt it beautiful? My family is genetically predisposed to acne and growing up watching my three older sisters who i idolised and wanted to imitate in any way i developed a totally different view. I thought my sisters were beautiful, i loved their hair, i couldnt wait to have a womans body like them, and i couldnt wait to get acne too! Because i thought it was beautiful! Our ideas about acne are shaped by our spheres of interaction with our family, community, and society. Unfortunately by the time i was 10 and started to get my first pimples my ideas had been changed by the wider world and i hated my skin. I've had acne for 10 years now and i've finally reached the point again where i dont look at my spots and scarring and hate myself, nor do i just accept it, i love my skin. It does its job well and even if its doesnt look like everyone elses, thats because its mine. And its beautiful.
@PHlophe
@PHlophe 6 жыл бұрын
Miss Lamberts its not beautiful because its genetic. why do you want to force people to love invasive pimples with a lot of mayonnaise in them though ? I had tons of it and i was called pizza face until my african side of the family demanded i stop eating chocolate, peanut butter, almond and then use raw cocoa and a thinned up coconut. it worked wonders. 90% of those disappeared. it is first world problems to have a "poor me|" attitude toward acnee when there are far worse things that could affect your physical health. Trust me.
@kathis.3973
@kathis.3973 6 жыл бұрын
This is kinda similar to what I experienced. I remember reading in a teen magazine's quiz "Do you have problems with pimples?" And I was like no bc I don't see my pimples as problems. This changed only because literally everyone else told me acne was something you couldn't have if you wanted to be pretty. You don't have to find every pimple beautiful in order to not see a person's beauty reduced by their acne or other skin issues. It's really something that should be considered normal and ok to have, just like body hair, fat, disabilities and all the other things I'm forgetting here. The body positivity movement, but especially mainstream media and ads definitely have to catch up with that. (edit:) Also, concerning the reply above: Just because you could have it worse doesn't mean you should have to feel bad about yourself because of what you look like and constantly be told that you can't be beautiful.

"At least women can wear make up bla bla bla" that's not the point of the video at all. I think it's actually about that you don't have to wear make up to hide it if you don't want. Ps: mens can wear make up too. actually if you have a face you can wear make up. :)

No to mention makeup makes it worse,,, I have to go natural as much as I can because even just wearing makeup for two hours will give me new pimples. It sucks because you can't be taken seriously in a professional world if you have acne because it's seen as something gross and people think you have bad skin hygeine because of it and it's something that's associated with teens.

Such an inspiring and positive video! I am 25 and suffering from acne for about 10 years now. I have come to the point where I stopped wearing make-up because I feel like it worsens it. Not only because it is not good for my skin but also because I want to accept myself the way I am. Nobody is perfect and i know that I have pimpels and scars all over my face, chest and back but I decided that this will not keep me from wearing spaghetti and tank tops or go sunbathing in a back-free swim suit. When people ask me about it I try not to get angry but explain them that I am suffering from acne. I dont need new doctors or medicine recommendations, like, it will not kill me. It hurts me often, but treating it as something natural will but less stress on myself. Sometimes you just cant influence it. I feel the worst when people tell me its because I am taking not enough care of myself, but at tge same time I see that they just cant imagine living with acne.

From the age of 12 I had acne and it made me very self-conscious. I did everything I could to take it away. Masks, pills, creams and nothing helped. People think they can cure it by saying things like “don't wear make-up it'll clog your pores” or “Go into the sun more often it'll do good for you” but without make up I didn't dare to leave the house and not all acne just gets better with sunlight. It took me 6 years to finally let go of foundation and just roll with what I have. It's a freeing experience. I still feel that if I didn't have acne I'd be more beautiful. But even with acne, I'm not that bad looking. And saying that, and being honest about it is a huge step to confidence. Both boys and girls, be proud of yourselves because even with the hell of having acne, you're beautiful!

I dont have acne when I was in High School but they started popping up when I graduated High school. I know that is not normal like what they "pimples are part of puberty." then my menstruation started to be irregular too. Last May I was diagnes with PCOS which basically the reason why I have these massive acnes. It was never easy on me, makes me depress because of the comments I receive from people around me. Like "maybe you are not taking care of your self and skin" "you dont care whatever happens to your face" and other negative comments that make me more hate myself. There are times when I am so down and cry and then laugh about it after. But I realized that why would I be ashame of my face and skin. This is normal, I didnt caused this, my hormone should be blame and at least I am doing everything I can to help improve my health, skin, and lessen my acne and scars. We shouldnt give up on this! Let's walk outside, go to school, go shopping, go out in a date without wearing make up. You'll get used to it and we shouldnt be minding what others are thinking, they dont know whats really this battle is. #FreethePimple ❤

I started getting pimples when I was 8, then all of my teen years up until last year when I was 24 I had incredibly painful, ugly acne. New pimples would come up morning, midday, afternoon, and night. I went on the pill after finding out my hormones were so out of whack, it cleared my acne, oiliness, polycystic ovaries, and made my insane fatigue a little easier to cope with. Goodluck to anyone out there dealing with bad acne, it was a nightmare for me, but if you can live with it I commend you, and if you can't stand it don't be afraid to visit your doctor and get your hormones checked. xo

I've had acne for 13 years now. It's hurts to touch. And there were times when I looked in the mirror and hated what I saw. And couldn't get myself to go to school. Not because of vanity but avoiding looks of disgust by people. Now that I am older I don't give much of a fuck anymore. I know it's not my fault. It's genetical. I can't and wouldn't want to change my DNA. I literally tried everything. From different contraceptive pills that are supposed to help over harsh creams and mask, to fasting and a plant based lifestyle. Last one actually does help. But I came to accept it a bit. I struggle but I try to be kinder. Yes it looks like an illness and society tells me I'm wrong and flawed. But I have a life I want to live and I can't to that while I'm hiding. I am very active and also sweat quickly so I don't like wearing makeup everyday so I don't. Just like my nice long hair, my long legs and my height that's a part of me. Something I can't call my favorite. But something that is me and I'm not perfect but I'm OK. Acne positivity is well needed movement

Acne ain't a final frontier. Try having psoriasis or atopic dermatitis. Acne is much more accepted socially (specially if youre a teen) then many other skin diseases, not to mention there are hundreds of treatment options and research being done on acne - the same can't be said about atopic dermatitis, for instance.

I’m so sorry to hear about that. But I can appreciate how you’ve struggled and still let you know that the problem with acne is that it isn’t taken seriously and neither is it’s impact on mental health. People with acne are more likely to develop illness such as depression than those with clear skin. Personally, I can’t leave the house some days and have contemplated suicide. I’m honestly so sorry you have to go through these health issues but please respect that some suffers of serve acne go through their own significant struggles. I guess there is always going to be a hierarchy of need, though.

I know i sound a bit bitter (sorry about that lmao) but it's undeniable that acne - although it's horrible and meaningful- is the "least worse" of the skin diseases, since it not only is largely known, but the most common and accepted skin condition there is. Most people will have acne at some point of their lives, most people will go through some kind of treatment (hence so many research is done and so many cosmetics care for acne skin) which is a luxury most skin conditions dont get. I wish I had acne instead, which is harsh, yes. I wish I had acne because people would recognize and understand my disease, i would have a plethora of options on the market for me, and honestly, acne hurts a lot less then atopic dermatitis (and i get depression and anxiety anyways so)

No , stretch marks is the final frontier especially the deep/coloured ignored marks that isn't acceptable in the mainstream.

I am curious about whether the use of make up through teenage years is a cause for Acne to get worse when a person gets older? I can't imagine suffocating your skin under product does it any good when your skin is developing. And I understand the idea that make up makes a person feel better because they can hide their acne underneath it. but as someone who has rosacea all over my face; I can't think of anything worse to do. Or is acne not the same as rosacea? I would hope I am not alone in thinking that perhaps it is better that teenagers should be encouraged to avoid using make up until they are properly matured?

It's infuriating without a doubt then. I can see why it is such a challenge getting people to stop wearing make-up when the skin still acts up without it; and everyone is telling them that they need to have perfectly clear skin. Sadly. While makeup companies can afford to splay out over the TV and internet with advertisements and convince the media to talk about how much progress their 'Scientists' have made on their products. People are doomed to be influenced. Perhaps if the larger fashion shows started to encourage people to be proud of their natural skin complexion without covering it up; it may start to leak into mainstream media. Always has to start at the bottom.

aida it is one of the causes , listen i spent a year in the carribean and i saw most teens with impeccable skins. no make up in sight . no over consumption of chocolate , cashew , animal based butter .. these are things linked to our western over consumption of all types of foods . you just pile up nasty shit.

I can see that working. I remember when I first had rosacea it looked as if I was wearing a literal red mask over my face. And if you are not familiar with the sensation; it feels like your face is being held in an oven. Although rosacea and acne may be different. One of the first changes I made was in my diet. I no longer eat chocolate or sugary products. Fast food included. Which is what sort of made me realise how much advertising those products get in Britain. It's very surreal when you cut those sort of foods out of your diet how you start to crave them and you become aware of how much marketing for them is out there. It is literally in your face constantly. but since I stopped snacking on junk and just have proper meals 2-3 times a day. The rosacea calmed. And the gel they offer for it began to actually work. I wont rant about my hatred of marketing and manipulation. because it's been done to hell and back. But it does enforce bad habits.

Isn't this called body confidence? I believe that 'body positivity' movement was created by women with 'plus-size' (I don't like this term but I am not sure what else to say, sorry) bodies.

Where is this where ppl care THAT much about acne, I never thought it was that big of a deal, it’s temporary usually and a relatively easy fix, I have body dysmorphia, and dates a guy who was so self conscious about his acne, and honestly I would take being thin/fit with acne over my own body without any day.

As someone who has had bad acne for several years I think this among lots of other acceptance movements is stupid. they make people complacent and 'happy' with their flaws instead of working to fix them and improve. Acne or being fat is not attractive and will never be.
