Is nobody going to talk about how in 2:19 the lighting in the piano went blue because the lyrics of the song were mentioning Aqua, then went red on 2:22 for Ruby's part and went back to purple at 2:25 at Ai's part. Also consistent with the visuals of the official music video where the characters were shown in those moments. Such a small detail but I absolutely LOVE IT Also at the part where Ai says "I love you" at the end of the song and the lighting on the piano just fades... That's really something else. Honestly, the person who came up with the idea of using lighting like that is a genius

Welcome back, Animenz～‎⋆꙳⟢🪐˖⊹ It’s a very unique experience, hearing my own idol playing “idol” :b As it says in the song and the anime, I believe piano music is a way for Animenz to express his love to us and the world╰(*´︶`*)╯♡ I remembered in one of the Livestreams, Animenz said he would want to try arranging songs with rap (e.g. Renai Circulation), I’m glad that he has finally done it here, and in such a surprisingly unexpected way (not unlike the plot turns in the 1st episode), that “classical rap” now is my favorite part!! It's different from all the pianists' cover styles. If the YOASOBI version of 《Idol》 is a master storyteller, then the piano version of Animenz is a master at uncovering the emotions hidden underneath the lyrics! There are actually different characters taking turns to speak in the lyrics. I'll share my initial thoughts so far. 1:21 Some rapidly rising cluster of sounds arrives, just as the member of the girl group emotions about アイ love and hate run high. 1:28 This is a particularly interesting use of classical techniques to deal with RAP, and after listening to it several times it seems to have a musical theater-like atmosphere. The melody line reminds me of the lyrics that describe the member of the girl group talking about her latent jealousy one line after another (the elegant melody is as if everyone is deliberately keeping the group's apparent peace and harmony) The other side of jealousy is actually the admiration for アイ. 2:07 The use of Ravel: Bolero to present this RAP is really a genius idea! The simple drums in the original song turned into the rhythm of "Bolero", It perfectly creates an air of mystery and dramatic tension in the music. 得意の笑顔で沸かすメディア 隠しきるこの秘密だけは 愛してるって嘘で積むキャリア これこそ私なりの愛だ 2:37 The lyrical moment after the hustle and bustle is Animenz's specialty~ 誰かに愛されたことも 誰かのこと愛したこともない そんな私の嘘がいつか本当になること 信じてる The gentleness of the piano shows that the lying アイ actually has a more sincere heart than many people! 3:03-3:18 The last part of the lyrics directly present the plot of the anime, and the real feelings of アイ are heartbreaking... Animenz played a very precise contrast between strength and weakness in about 15 seconds, and I was very impressed! 今日も嘘をつくの この言葉が いつか本当になる日を願って それでもまだ 君と君にだけは言えずにいたけど Animenz uses the right hand octave for the final emotional progression. The performance after 3:14 gives a final recap of the last few lyrics that broke the hearts of all the audience (It is also the line of アイ) 😢 あぁ、やっと言えた これは絶対嘘じゃない 愛してる This arrangement has Animenz signature style classical arrangement, a unique masterpiece✨ After four months of absence, we once again confirm that アイドル様、you love for anime music is definitely not a lie. I think this is particularly true when listening to this arrangement. In my experience, transcribing songs that change styles such as rap and vocal is extremley difficult and somehow Animenz manages to make this sound very natural and interesting. Truly never disappoints.

Both Animenz and Marasy are exceptional pianists with a shared interest in anime music. However, their playing styles are like two extremes. Marasy's performances are full of playfulness, as if his hands are dancing across the keys, while Animenz's playing showcases a mastery of the fundamentals that takes his performances to another level.

Agreed, Animenz usually faithfully reproduces whatever he arranges, which is probably why this arrangement came out around 2 weeks after Marasy's arrangement. You can really feel the extra care and practice put into both the arrangement and the performance, all the spaces are filled and it feels like the entire track was condensed into a single instrument. Marasy tends to shine the brightest when it comes to medleys and interpretations, and when he adds original sections and mixes in similar themes without missing a beat. Marasy will take something he enjoys and adds to it over time and repeated performances. Both are huge inspirations to me as a casual pianist, and I probably wouldn't have an electric piano downstairs if not for their videos.

@@exiledkenkaneki701 What I mean by that is that Animenz generally sounds closer to the original, whereas Marasy sometimes sounds like there's some jazz or swing influence in his original sections (at least for my favorite pieces). Marasy tends to favour rubato and glissando leading to clear interpretations where he makes the music his own. When I hear Marasy play I can identify it through those techniques and the energy. Usually I can identify Animenz by the accuracy of the arrangement and that the tempo perfectly matches the original. Even when he adds original sections, it's like he's augmenting what's already there without changing the feeling of the piece too dramatically. It's like the cherry on top rather than changing the taste of the entire dish.

Finessed touch and dynamic control are what really sell this cover for me: - The intentional stepping down of volume at 0:33, 0:39 and 0:44 almost feel like you're turning down a volume knob each time. Loved the arrangement! I feel like it was important to communicate 5 very different sets of imagery: 1) Ominous and oppressing - during "rapping" parts and verses (0:00, 1:20, 2:05) - the hardships of existing in entertainment industry, all backstage "drama", focusing on business aspect instead of art aspect etc. Damn, you really went wild with arranging these parts, it's apparent you've experimented a lot to pick your best ideas! 2) Happy, bubbly, but insincere - during the first two choruses (0:57, 1:42) - Ai jumping around, dancing and singing on stage, being the perfect idol for her fans. I especially enjoyed your "jumpy" rhythmic choices in left hand, also the right hand chords imitating the audience cheering "Hey! Hey!" at 1:08 and 1:53, while playing the main melody at the same time. 3) Introspective - during pre-choruses (0:43, 2:37) - Ai contemplating her attitude toward her fans and toward her family, her "love through lies" philosophy. The final pre-chorus hits harder because of slowed down tempo. I wonder, what does the modulation at 2:43 mean: Ai's change of perspective over time? Or her habit of adjusting to every situation she's in, trying to be "perfect" for everybody? Or something else? 4) Happy and hopeful - during the final chorus (2:51) - Ai's accepting herself, hoping to provide the best she can for both her fans and her children. Hits especially hard after slowed down pre-chorus that was right before it. Loved how you kept the contrast from the original song with jumpy staccato! 5) And finally, absolute sincerity with the "confession" at 3:13. I love this part because it's the same melody from the choruses, which was previously established as "insincere", but this time it's used to convey the directly opposite message - absolute love for her kids. You perfectly captured this with change of dynamics and softer touch. I can hear all those sets of imagery in your arrangement, amazing job! The only nitpick I can think of is final instrumental part from 3:19 to 3:30 - would love if you went a little wilder and used all registers of piano to make it a more memorable conclusion, this part sounds a bit bland for me personally compared to everything that surrounds it. Good to see you back dude, thank you for providing us such top tier quality content!

I like what Animenz did with the thumbnail! The extra effect, along with the color of the moonlamp, really helps distinguish his arrangements from each other in people's feeds - they can instantly know "oh, it's that arrangement", which is very helpful for the algorithm! I imagine at this point, he hears a song a few times. Then sits at the piano, lets his hands dance as he records it. Reviews it and is like this is it, writes up the sheet music from memory then gets his official video rolling.
