Another pointless blindside was Denise sending Sandra home in WAW after Sandra gave her an extra idol. Not only does Denise send someone home who was actively trying to help her, Sandra was someone she could've used as a meat shield for a few rounds (similar to what Jeremy did in Cambodia with Fishbach). Speaking of Jeremy, Denise also misplays her second idol on him at that same tribal. If she holds onto that idol, she has it for final 6, where she'd be able to send Sarah home via auto elimination, which couldve led to a run at FTC.

Definitely thought this on my rewatch of the season. However, shortly after that, i had a twisted idea that if it were *me*, i would probably vote for jeremy and still negate my vote, forcing the other 3 to turn on each other while i watch with glee to see what happens

It wasn’t pointless at all. Sandra wanted Denise to use the idol and blindside Jeremy. At the time, Denise was close with Jeremy and was never gonna vote him out. She still needs to vote someone out, and if she’s already betraying Sandra by not getting rid of Jeremy like she promised, then she might as well go all the way and vote off Sandra. It’s better than blindsiding Kim or Tony and having a pissed off Sandra still in the game targeting her.

It was a poor move, but wasn't completely pointless. Jim wanted to keep people loyal to him. Pretty sure Cochran was closer to him that the others. Both were super fans and I imagine had some good conversations about the show. The dumb decision was everyone telling Cochran it should have been him voted out instead of Ozzy right before the merge. They made Cochran feel like he was on the bottom. In his mind, why gamble his game for people he is unsure about taking him to the end? Upolu was able to make Cochran feel like he had a way better chance of going far with them. If everyone made Cochran feel secure in his alliance, he may have gone to rocks.

Definitely an omission in Gabby's blindsiding of Carl (leaving Davie and Nick in the dark) in DvG Final 9, and then on top of that attempting to blindside her remaining loyal ally Christian the vote after. While I can understand Gabby's frustration at Carl dictating the vote, the Davids had JUST miraculously earned a majority for the first time, and in the last two votes Carl, Davie and Nick burnt their advantages to earn it for them. Biting the hand that feeds you this early never pays off, and had Gabby just waited one or two more tribals to blindside Carl, she and Christian may have been left in a power position afterwards. Instead, she left them with two different sides who were all too happy to put aside their differences to slay the betrayers - and when she attempted a second Bigmovitis play against Christian, he had enough social capital that (according to his postgame interviews) three different people in two different alliances all told him he was the vote and to play his Idol! Two people that Gabby thought she was flipping to (I think Allison and Mike White) correctly stuck the knife in her back and with Christian's idol play, two votes sent her packing. If she had managed to wait until 7 (preferably) or 8 for the Carl blindside and then simply let Christian's rivals take him out as the huge threat he was, she could have very well won the game. Her blunder turned a great season into an absolutely top-tier one, but it was a blunder of a blindside nonetheless.

Joel voting out Mary is such an underrated stupid move by Joel, but also an underrated great move by Tracy (I feel like you didn't gave her enough credit in the video) considering the fact that she is the one who got Joel to this move and the player who is benefited from it the most (I know Chet was the target so he benefit from the move more, but I just think calling Chet a "player" is a bit of a stretch)

@@IdoledOut Tracy Blindsiding Ozzy is one of the biggest what ifs in survivor history imo. Very likely the next two boots are Amanda and Chet, meaning you come into the merge Ami Erik and Tracy picking up Eliza and Jason, while Parv and Cirie keep James and have to fight to grab hold of Alexis and Natalie. Ami and Tracy vs Parvati and Cirie is the stuff survivor dreams are made of, and... Honestly...? I'm inclined to think Ami and Tracy win that battle. Tracy had good bonds with Alexis and Natalie in particular, plus Ami is no slouch, whild Parv would,be trying to get over the hurdle of trying to get Alexis and Natalie to work with James (who they didn't like) and someone they've never met (Cirie)

Natalia was incredibly paranoid and I could see why Alec would want to get rid of her in case she flips on the Goliaths at the merge, or otherwise blows up any plans. The plan to take out Elizabeth was pretty cut and dry and Natalia had little to no reason to be so anxious.

One off the top of my head is David and CC blindsiding Lucy in MVGX. Should the swap happen later, David wouldve had full control over Gen X by saving Jessica. And she'd also become an integral part in brining in Adam as an ally. If that move doesn't happen, David is likely an early merge boot.

I feel like these past seasons they haven’t though. Gabler didn’t use his, Josh uses his but just to save himself and the other two kind of didn’t end up mattering. I guess the difference is though that these have all been public knowledge and the past two just kind of expired without fanfare so there wasn’t really any chance to make a huge move with them.

A few more mentions: 1. Australian Survivor Champions vs Contenders - Benjy making a move on Teagan. Both times. The first time, he chose breaking a duo while keeping a trio, which makes no sense, but the 2nd time made even less sense, as he forced himself and Robbie on the outs of the contenders, only to join a big alliance that he’s clearly at the bottom of. 2. Worlds Apart - Will voting out Vince. Rather than either siding with Vince and Nina, or sticking with the split vote to take Nina out, he puts himself on the outs of both sides, just because he felt uneasy about something Vince said. 3. SJDS - Jon blindsiding Jeremy, and giving a serious opening to Reed’s alliance, which would’ve screwed him if it weren’t for “stick to the plan”. 4. Second Chance - Ciera voting out Woo over Spencer. That “big move” is the main reason she and her allies were put on the outs at the merge, and her reason for that was childish. 5. All Stars - Lex blindsiding Colby to keep in Jerri, who was really holding them back in challenges. That guaranteed their loss the following round, and their numbers being down at the merge. 6. David vs Goliath - Angelina voting out Jeremy, while keeping in Natalie, whose attitude can easily isolate other allies. 7. David vs Goliath - Gabby and Christian blindsiding Carl. That’s what fractured their alliance. (it should also be noted that Carl pushing for the Elizabeth vote is what started Gabby’s doubts on him to begin with) 8. Winners at War - Nick voting out Yul. His excuse to it was dumb, and that’s what put him and Michele on the outs at the merge.

Wardog’s logic in general was questionable, even before the Kelley vote. Blindsiding Chris, who trusted him more than anyone, and would’ve been one heck of a shield, rather than getting rid of Wendy. Attempting to blindside David and Rick at the merge, giving a serious opening to Kama, instead of ganging up on Kama with a potential 7 (and then attempting to paint David as untrustworthy in the final 10 vote, which is very hypocritical)

His problem was he needed to not care about getting Karla out at F5 as Karla loses to Jesse at FTC but might not beat him in fire. Jesse's biggest threat at that point was Gabler, as he was the best fire maker and nobody was an FTC threat to Jesse anymore (Jesse just has to get there and he wins.)

First 2 on this list all come before the merge and set them up to "lose" at the merge vote. Both caused others to have reason to trust them way less. Joel was a bad player the entire time. Wardog made the error of continuing the trend of big targets to all get out consecutively rather than pause to take out someone minor to space things out. And I feel season 39 had so many bad choices strategically.

Say what you want but at least Jay had the balls to look her in the eyes and be like "Yeah, Yeah I did that". They saw more then mere seashells and sand, they saw the brains behind the curtain, sort to speak so even though it didn't work out as well as they hoped, I don't think it was pointless. They had the element of surprise and took their shot to take out a big time brain in the game on top of everything else she had going for her. Michaela has chops in challenges and charm to pull people to her. Anytime you can tale out a triple threat is never pointless IMO.

Chet and Kathy kept running excuses even years after their season, mostly with Joel’s “unity” excuse (which makes no sense, because you can’t have unity if you keep the clearly untrustworthy outsiders). In fact, Chet was so incapable of taking criticism about his gameplay, that he completely flipped out in one of the FB Survivor groups, only for the admins to kick him out. P. S. If what Mike spilled out in a podcast is true, he was cuddling with Alexis, not Mary

Sure, he went next, but both Wardog and Wentworth knew they'd have to flip on each other eventually, and they knew this about each other as well. It was no different than Ricard/Shan. Wardog wanted to keep Wentworth around while she could be a shield for him but she wasn't an effective shield for him anymore as Wardog was targeted over Wentworth the tribal before when David got booted. His problem is he overplayed too early and made himself too big of a threat and with no ability to find idols or win challenges (despite appearing to be a relatively fit guy) he was a dead man walking come merge time. The truth is, if he doesn't take out Wentworth there it's going to be impossible to take Wentworth out later, and Wentworth will have no problem taking him out whenever she feels like it. There's been other similar examples, it happened in the most recent version of AUS Survivor but I won't spoil it, however unlike Wardog's blindside on Wentworth this one ended up benefitting the person doing the blindside significantly more.

I don’t know if I completely agree with the Michaela decision on this list, I think Jay knew that she was an incredible threat to win if she got deeper into the game and wanted to take her out early to get ahead of the game. It isn’t really a bad thought process it just didn’t work out for him in the very end. I would love to see the alternate universe where Jay and Michaela potentially ride it out to the final 3 together.
