Being both a consumer and creator (but on a somewhat smaller scale) has been an interesting journey for me to say the least. It's very rare for me these days to get caught up in idolizing others, or to hold them to this standard of constant perfection like they're nothing but a machine that's trying to appease the algorithm. My creative endeavors have made me feel that to some degree in the past (and bordering on toxic a handful of times), and I know that it's not fair to be seen as nothing but a machine who has to constantly push out content. Thank you for all that you do, Caleb! Your talents and skills are valuable

“Were you told to subscribe to lies” and “bring a tithe to the altar of success” both hit so hard. I want to believe what people put forth but I can’t. So many do horrible things behind closed doors. And, I’ve tried to hard to get I to content creation. But every time I feel fake because I’m following others’ plan to success

This song is so freaking powerful!!! Caleb you are an incredible and far more than numbers on a screen. All you are and all you want and will become are real, true and powerful! Never forget your worth, never be what others think you are because in the end all are equal in the eye of the maker. Whether our time is limited or extended, the way we are going as a race is towards nothing but destruction. Kindness, understanding and mercy are the only way we can truly have a future. To any who read this I hope you are able to see that all you are is worth more than anything material can devise. You are of infinite value, never let the world determine who you are. You are able to be whatever you wish.

This is actually really relatable in a number of ways even if you aren’t a content creator because we are expected to never have flaws a lot (at least that’s how I see a lot of the millennial generation ) we are always on a tightrope told what to do and not to do to keeps our jobs, to prevent people from using things against us or even if we present ourselves a certain way. One picture or post from Facebook Twitter tumblr wherever that can be taken out of context and you’re in kangaroo court when your friends are now claiming that you were fake terrible or manipulative. How one wrong word makes it seem like you were mocking a group when it reality it was sarcasm meant to show how terrible something actually is, you are never allowed to be anything but the picture perfect version of what others want of you and it sucks. You are always pressured and about to break not knowing if something you do will be a success or a tremendously huge failure just because of one misstep, sorry I’m getting all rambler. I’m glad I finally got a chance to listen to this in detail. And I can’t think of any lyrics right now but I’d say this is up with LA Devotee in terms of the message of how in your case social media and in Panic! case Hollywood like Celebrity Status can effect people (there are other songs too and I have too short term of a memory to remember song lyrics from other songs let alone yours to pick out what I liked the most. Again sorry that I ramble) great job Caleb!

"we are more then numbers on a screen" and "are you reaching for a window into me, to Idolize?" these lyrics hit hard and in a good way, and "are you reaching for a window into me, to Idolize?" reminds me of how I was growing up I idolized youtubers willynilly and didn't make the connect the dots of "hey, kid, these are people too" I was doing the same thing people did with celebrities when I was younger with youtubers, but as I got older, and saw many youtubers that I used to like outed for doing some...terrible things to say the least, and sure I may look up to youtubers still but I no longer put them on this metaphorical pedestal that they are this perfect human being, they are human, small mistakes, emotions other then happy, and many other examples exist that prove that, they are just people doing what they love. "we are more then numbers on a screen" hit hard as well cus of how social media treats us nowadays when it comes to ads and such, asking about "hey, we are gonna do personalized ads and such, agree?" and most blindly hit agree, even without hitting that button though, you still feel advertisers (except for some more indie sites like new grounds or tumblr), watch you, try to piece together everything you do and what sites you go to, which can make it feel hard to disconnect from reality calmly when ads try to force you back to it. continue making bangers dude. glad to see you doing more original stuff

[Lyrics] Caleb Hyles - Idolize [Verse] Were you told what is real and beautiful? Were you told to subscribe to lies? Do you feel like you're lost? Delusional? All your time is monetized Get the camera to capture all your tears There's a currency in your cries They are listening close to all your fears Your emotions weaponized I can see it in your eyes! [Refrain] You and i are more than numbers on - the - screen to analyze - Just close your eyes Are you searching for a window into me to idolize? ... Idolize [Verse] Bring a tithe to the altar of success you will not be demonized The adrenaline coursing through my chest in a virtual paradise Is there anywhere left where i can rest? Is there ever a private life? I'm expected to show you all my best and it's leaving me paralyzed [Refrain] You and i are more than numbers on - the - screen to analyze ... Analyze Are you searching for a window into me to idolize? ... Idolize [Bridge] Maybe one day we will be reborn, or is this humanity's final form? Into the mirror we are tired and worn Must i fight for more? [Refrain] You and i are more than numbers on - the - screen to analyze - Just close your eyes Are you searching for a window into me to idolize? ... Idolize -------------------------------------------------- ... i know it is a lyric-video, but maybe this is a bit more readable for some. Atleast it helped me for a little bit of karaoke. I really like this song, it reminds me of older Starset. Hope to hear more original Songs!

Holy crap! I love this! When your album In One Breath first dropped and you uploaded the entire playlist to your channel, I made sure to listen to each one each day. I held myself to making sure I didn't advance to the next song in the order of succession until the very next day, despite how tempting it was. It took 11 days in total, since how I had skipped over Goodbye Monday considering how I had already listened to it the day it was released as a teaser. Each and every song on that album I ended up saving to my main playlist on Spotify once I could, and even to this day - despite how often I delete songs from said playlist - all 12 of those songs remain. You can be sure that this song, and likely any others will be added as well; though only time will tell if they stay like In One Breath did. (Between you and me and literally everyone else, however, I don't doubt they will.)

We record everything about ourselves, I even did a whole project at school on parents recording everything about their kids and posting on social media, nowadays there really isn't such thing as a private life, especially for those whose work is solely on social media. Amazing song with an important message, definitely going into my playlist.

A thinly veiled metaphor for the burnout KZbin/art/music creators go through to maintain a fan base but it's genuinely destroying people. It's people chasing a dream struggling with bills and deadlines they barely meet then have things like their health or home fall apart. Support them when they take breaks or vacations or things get delayed. They need it.
