IDPA Rust Belt Regional Championship - Carry Optics Master - 1st Place - Canik Darkside Rival

Other than that absolute dumpster fire on Stage 1, I am happy with my performance today. This was my first time attending the Rust Belt Regional Championship and it was one of the most fun matches I've been to in a while!

Seeing the new match rules in action is awesome! Thank you! I have a major this weekend. How was their interpretation on the fault line rule? We’ve had some debate on what they mean. Were you allowed to have a toe on the edge of the fault line, or did your heel have to be all the way in the FL?

This might be a question for your AC unfortunately. At this match, you didn't have to physically touch the fault line as long as you weren't exposed to unengaged targets at other positions of cover. I think the rule was meant to stop people from shooting everything at multiple positions of cover from one spot on the stage

What are your thoughts on running a WML like the TLR-1 HL on the Rival now that WML is legal on guns in CO in IDPA?

I've shot a few matches with a tlr1 on the rival and I found that it made the dot a little bouncy on the return compared to without it. Personally I would only run one in a match that had lowlight stages.

Not to be a smarty pants but on stage 5 did you drop a magazine after 8 shots? Is that legal these days with the new rules? Haven’t really read it to be honest, no time to shoot anymore 👍

No worries! I dropped the mag after the 9th shot. Since it was an unloaded start, there were 10 rounds in the mag to start with. With the new rules, you can perform a reload as long as the dropped mag is empty. So firing 9 shots left me with one in the chamber and an empty magazine.

@@James_Cantrell_Shooting ah, good to know, I received numerous penalties in the past for doing that, I was told it had to be slide lock otherwise I had to retain the empty mag, oh well…I had a lot of fun none the less

@@gc641 yeah, the rules only changed June 1st this year so in the past you had to be at slide lock or do a tac reload. In my older videos you can see how things used to be 🙂

Just curious is the mag well built into the canik? I thought magwells were not allowed in co

SAO and magwells are legal in IDPA Carry Optics but not USPSA Carry Optics. It only takes a few seconds to attach or detach it so I use it when legal and take it off when not.
