I just find it very interesting that you weigh by subtraction instead of addition. My brain just does not work that way lol. Just discovered you recently (KZbin algorithm finally suggested you after I follow 3 other soap makers lol) and wow, this is stunning. I love your explanations of how you build your designs.

Thanks so much GhostGirl, yes I like weighing that way when adding to a pot with something already in it as you can make sure everything is nice and accurate. If you add to a pot with something in, if you go over a bit then you can't really do anything about it.

I sat down to watch some soaping videos after soaping most of the afternoon and I had to laugh when I saw yours because we used the same colors in our soap today (different vendors but same colors). What are the odds of that? My fragrance oil was Sensual Sandalwood from Brambleberry. I couldn’t find my hangar so I ended up doing a spoon swirl and finishing it off in the oven to make the colors pop! But I’m loving your design. My fragrance oil is very slow moving and I would have loved to try this design. Maybe next time.

I think it's always amazing how sometimes that happens. It happened to me the other day, I had just made a soap that was a gradient with mini drop swirls on the top, did my washing up with KZbin on and Tammy from Walnut Creek had a video released doing exactly the same soap as I'd just made (different colours). I told her and she said that she had just made a confetti soap that day and washed up, as she did so my video came on that I'd just released of a confetti soap, so yes I can very well believe it - spooky things going on :-)

Looking for soap techniques, and stumbled on your channel and instantly subscribed. I made some a couple of years ago, and just getting back into it. I love the way that you explain everything and demonstrate clearly. It makes it interesting and makes it 'possible' for us to follow for ourselves! I am looking forward to trying out some of these examples. I only use clay for colouring and essential oils as I have a lot of allergies and cannot use anything else.

When you use pre-dispersed colorant, how do you know how much to use? Do you just use 1 tsp ppo like a regular usage rate or is it different because it's dispersed? I tried to use a colorant calculator that is designed to tell you how much to use if it's dispersed and it went over my head.
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 2 жыл бұрын
When I make my predispersed colours up (TD etc) I always make them at a specific rate, which for me is a 1:2 ratio, so that's 1 part colour to 2 parts oil, always done in weight. So I might make a whole pot up with 100g of TD and 200g of oil. Then when I come to use it I work out my normal usage rate for the colour, so for example if I had a portion of soap with 200g of oils, I would normally need 1.2g of TD. Mine is dispersed in oil so I take the 1.2g and multiply it by 3, so I need 3.6g of my dispersed TD.
@imaniwilliams816
@imaniwilliams816 2 жыл бұрын
@@IDreamInSoap Do you multiply it by 3 because the ratio is 1:2 and 1+2 is 3?
