You the only one demonstrating this procedure that mentions that the bevel side goes up into the head with the flat side down. Thank you!!!

Your gasket came out comically easy compared to mine! Thanks for the coarse thread screw tip--I NEEDED it. It came out in 3 pieces. Will be better about changing it on time

yeah, mine usually won't come out with using a right-angle pick tool to get under the gasket and pull it down.

I am not sure why everyone is telling you to use a screwdriver to remove the Shower Screen. Unless it removes as easy as shown in this vid - DON'T! I got to admit I slept on the maintenance for my shower Screen and left it in to long and last time I changed it I did not use lube. My shower screen was really stuck and I tried first with a screwdriver and managed to scratch the metal of my group head. I finally got my Craftsmans pliers and removed the screen really easy! The Creen edges are though enough to take the grip force of the pliers and you are never in contact with the group head. Also; clean each month and remember to lube!!! That will keep you out of trouble!

Just installed the newly arrived silicone gasket since the old one was leaking after 3 years of use. Since the IMS shower screen I use doesn’t have an edge as the regular E61 shower screens do, I used a french wrench fittet to the screen‘s diameter to loosen the gasket and pull it out. Just in case anyone has the same problem of not being able to scoop under.

Well done; thanks Slavic. Besides that food-grade lubricant, I would imagine that simple Canadian canola oil would work just as well?

I know this is an old video but I JUST installed my 8mm red gasket and IMS basket with my rocker appartamento and noticed that the porta filter is going way past 6 o’clock. It’s going to almost 4 o’clock to when it’s tight. This is using both a triple naked basket and the factory double porta filter.
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, your group may be a little more worn, I suggest going to the 8.5mm or there are also shims that can be put in underneath the gasket as well
@jdpst20
@jdpst20 2 жыл бұрын
@@iDrinkCoffeeCanada yeah the machine was bought in 2017 and my wife and I use it pretty much every day. Would it be the porta filter that is more worn like the teeth on the edges of the filter or the group itself thanks. I’ll try an 8.5. The old rubber ring I replaced was so dry and cracked when I took it out too.

@@andersokhalvorsen let me know how it goes. My machine is about 5 years old with original porta filter. Shows signs of wear. I still place it at 6 o’clock position and it brews fine but I would like a tighter seal
@andersokhalvorsen
@andersokhalvorsen 2 жыл бұрын
@@jdpst20 Will do. I am only getting the blue 8.5mm Cafelat gasket on Sunday, so it will have to wait until then. My machine is 3 years old with moderate use. The red 8mm Cafelat gasket that I have now works fine with the original shower screen (nice, tight fit), but is too loose with the IMS E61 Nanotec Precision Shower Screen - E61 200 NT (although still working).

I believe lubrifilm is a silicon based lubricant (it doesn't mention it though), I don't think many people think about this but you're not supposed to use a Silicon based lubricant with silicon products, as it will interact and break down the silicon I believe. Can anyone confirm whether it's silicon based?
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada 3 жыл бұрын
Haynes doesn't mention the ingredients on their website but we have been using this lubricant with silicone gaskets for years without any problems. This is from the manufacturer's website as well: Haynes® Lubricants contain no animal or vegetable fats, are absolutely neutral and will not turn rancid, contaminate or taint when in contact with food product. They are specifically formulated with the highest quality base oils and additives to meet the unique demands placed on all types of food processing and packaging equipment.

I bought a Rocket Mozzafiato Chrono R from you back in Nov 2019. From Day 1, I was never able to lock the portafilter in the 6 o’clock position ....missing a few degrees. I’m thinking the gasket is to thick or hard. Could this affect the pressure build up in the extraction? I never seem to be able to produce the thick crema regardless of adjustment or bean type.

Marco Chiasson it’s not supposed to be at 6 oclock, 7oclock is better
@PanzerIV88
@PanzerIV88 4 жыл бұрын
@@alex____1 Good to know that 7 is even better. I was under the impression that the goal was to reach the better looking straight 6 o clock position! :o Me too my Rocket R58 since day 1 "8 months old" as always been at 7o'clock and same for the Rocket Chronometo I just bought from iDrinkCoffee last week. I easily replaced the stock shower with the IMS Nanotech shower but put back the stock gasket. However now on mine I can't even remove the darn gasket anymore! On the stock shower there was a groove all around in which you can put the Flathead screwdriver but not on that IMS basket. How do I remove the IMS without scratching the E61 group or the shower itself??
@alex____1
@alex____1 4 жыл бұрын
@@PanzerIV88 There should be a small lip / groove at the bottom of the shower screen, you don't have to be too careful, use some force and a spoon to get it out easily by slowly pulling it down on two opposite sides.
@PanzerIV88
@PanzerIV88 4 жыл бұрын
@@alex____1 Yeah I just successfully did it a few minutes ago. The lid is much thinner and nearly impossible to use on the IMS shower vs the stock one. I think I got it with my tiny flathead on the outer side of the gasket, slowly pushing inward. Is it possible that using the lub/grease on the side makes not only installation easier but the next time you'll remove it, much easier? I don't know if the lub will stay there forever until you remove it, or if it's gonna go away by itself after a while so that it would only be a optional part of the reinsertion to make it easier? Cause surprisingly my R58 bought elsewhere don't have any grease or lube on the stock gasket but the Rocket I just bought from iDrink last week did have grease not on the side but on top of the gasket so wtf??? They are all suppose to be assembled at the same factory from Millan so I don't know the difference and what is better between lube/grease and top versus side lubbing or even vs none. Thanks in advance, I'm going bed.

I don't think it really matters at what point the thing locks into, all that matters is that it's a good seal. I noticed with a different (VST) portafilter basket it locks in differently than with the one that came with my machine, but it still works. My only concern would be that it might put more stress and wear on the gasket, although I've used the machine for about 10 years on the original gasket without any apparent issues.

We don't carry expobar so I'm not sure but from what I know it is an E61 group head so the standard e61 shower should fit but again I am not certain.

Out of curiosity, what happens if the gasket was installed flat side up instead of down?
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada 2 жыл бұрын
Nothing really, it will still work.
@matt1720
@matt1720 2 ай бұрын
Yes it will still work if installed flat side up instead of down, but not as well in my experience. I installed flat side up the first time I replaced my gasket and noticed a lot more coffee grinds were caught around the gasket when cleaning my group head as part of regular maintenance compared to installing flat side down. Note: flat side down means the flat side makes contact with the portafilter.

Can I ask, how do I best tell if my machine takes an 8mm or 8.5mm gasket? What am I measuring? Many thanks in advance
@frustin
@frustin 4 жыл бұрын
you probably have the answer by now, but it depends on the make, but i found this: 8mm will fit ECM, PROFITEC, LELIT AND EXPOBAR machines. 8.5mm will fit ROCKET and IZZO machines.

@@Kdjvujkii You in the UK? I ended up buying two in Australia and delivered to a friend there who forwarded on to me in the UK. I did contact Sage in Europe as they sell them for the Sage machines which are similar but they are out of stock at the moment. At least I now have an old one and spare new one to compare if I buy something other than an original. Problem is they have grooves in one side for the centre drain disk to sit in. I now am looking for the orange seals that are used on most things as I have one of them go after replacing the Steam valve.
