I feel the devs played a giant joke on everybody. It's not that i was stumped how to get to the upgrade technique but i thought there was another part of the puzzle as well to get the very top light that spins around from the center colum as it raises or lowers around to point at the far high up crystal marked here 7:57 that sits high above where you unlock the new skill. That was the part driving me nuts. I guess apparently it was just a red herring and level design to make you assume there was something else to happen when really there is not. Little did I notice while doing what i thought was one puzzle the light has already been shining up at that crystal before moving mirror 2 around so I fooled myself based on the level design to think there was more about this room that there was.

This is a great tutorial! What threw me off was Lara telling herself that mirror 3 needed to be pointed at Mirror 2, which is not only never required, that beam is blocked by a concrete pylon. Thanks for the help.

I had problems with this because I just assumed the purpose was to hit all the lights on the middle and raise the platform to the top. I managed to do that somehow then realized it wasn't what you're meant to do. Also the first time I tried to jump to the middle platform I fell in the water, seemed like there was an invisible block stopping me, so I assumed it was wrong.
