Hi (so sorry for taking your time...I'm very thankful for your attention) I've got a little problem in studying for IELTS writing section specially task2,I get a band score of at least 8 in the other three sections while I got a 6.5 in my latest writing...the greatest problem that I have is with the format...I do not know how many paragraphs is needed or what kind of language is preferred ... my teacher says that i write like a university essay which is not good for IELTS exam(what I considered my academic style and vocabulary range) the books that I come across to and what I'm told by my teachers and what I read on the net sometimes ...in fact a lot of times ...contradict each other in terms of paragraphs,expressions,... which is truly puzzling for me and I do not know which of my materials should I rely on... another thing is I do not know where to find original up-to-date band 8 writings to find a reliable structure...I wonder if you would help me with this P.S I'm constantly being told getting a score higher than 6 or 6.5 is impossible in my country and that's too discouraging,do we have such limits?:( Dorsa-Iran

Dear Adam, the line graph at 16:48 minutes video, "Overall, sales (consistently) increased ....., though the rate of increase fluctuated" is it ok to say : "...., though the rate of increase is fluctuated" or we have to not use "is" as it is deleted verb?

In the sentence “though the rate of increase fluctuated” FLUCTUATED was used as a past tense verb, so it does not need the word “is” before it. Meanwhile, in the sentence you wrote, “though the rate of increase is fluctuated”, FLUCTUATED was used as an adverb which does not pattern with the other paragraph part.

use comma before ‘respectively’ (you really did a great job paying attention to that minor detail). i removed commas since watching other mentors not putting commas before them, turned out i was right. but is it okay to use respectively in 2 values? or it is appropriately used for 3 or more?
