@juste une fille It's because it's a live recording straight off the mics and amps. Live audio sounds best LIVE. It's mixed to take the acoustics and room into account - much different than a studio recording. I guarantee this would have sounded 10,000X better if you were in the room as it was playing. This is always the problem with live videos or festival streams, they sound thin and messy. If the mics recording the show were where the audience was it would be a much better mix.

No. Totally disagree. They don't play good enough live. This song is quite complex, considering 2 guitars doing riffs in high keys, and they don't play good enough and that's all. Love Interpol, love the new album, but nothing to do with that. This mix is perfect, you can hear everything, that's the reason why you can hear all the foozles. An audience recording or being there only hide the elements.

Well Daniel usually uses a Princeton when recording for albums and uses the twin reverb for shows. He can raise the volume on the small princeton and it would sound amazing but the fender twin reverb he usually (i think) would put it at 2-3 max that amp is super loud (i have one as well). Also he was playing the song a bit faster thank paul and sam. I’ve done some interpol covers myself and try my best to get the same sound as albums but its a bit difficult. So i just was lots of live show and go off those.
