Hello Adam really glad you are intereste about islam . basically there 3 types of creatures angels created from light (they do not have free will and they follow God's order but they can ask questions to God when they want to understand something) Humans created from clay (we have free will) Jinn ( they have free will as well) just like humans there are good jinns and bad jinns In the Quran, God clearly mentionned that he created humans and jinns to worship Him Satan for instance was a jinn and was with angels . he was not an angel but was with in ranks with angels. He also worshipped God a lot but because he refuses to obey God to bow down in reverance for the creation of Adam and said to God : "I am made with fire so i am better than him, God ejected him. When he worshipped God his name was Ibliss then he became satan
