funny thing is after my parents covert to Christian , they no longer use Water Dragon Head, and also majority the Malaysian Chinese community , we just called it Water Head that it for the faucet. If we refer to Water Dragon Head is used for Chinese Temple for grab some holy water to cleanse.

Water dragon head. Go to gugong and you will see tiny dragon heads poking out of step terraces to help direct rain water. That’s the origin I believe.

My hong Kong Cantonese father despite having spoken english fkuentky for about half a century, still sometimes says odd things like, "open the faucet" then i ask him how hed say it in Cantonese snd the verb is "open" nit "turn on" and when you think sbout the mechanism if mskes so much sense so I can hsrdly begrudge him that! You look really well man! Kove tge moustache, it looks great on you! And your outfit is very flattering too! The fit of the jacket is spot on and i mistook it for being a proper firmal blazer unyil i looked closely abd notuced ut was a little more relaxed. Byt you seem comfortable, confident, abd like yiure really diung well! I'm delighted to see it!

Up until the 90s, rectangular (2x4ft) ceiling boards with embossed ornate patterns (usually floral) were still popular in Malaysia. Nowadays it’s mainly plain square (4x4ft) ones.

Ma Tong refers to the actual object, the porcelain bowl. Chinese people don't normally say that when they say "I am going to the bathroom" actually come to think of it, Americans don't directly say the word toilet either in that context, but if you go to England saying "I'm going to the toilet" is very common. But yeah 廁所 or 洗手間 is more common when you say "I'm going to..." I guess if your toilet broke, then you would use it since you're talking about the actual object (我的馬桶壞了)

⁠@@learnchinesenow 4:03 if you watch some Chinese(古装片) drama, then you would know that, 马桶/馬桶 really meant a wooden bucket and I’m sure that western culture/world would have something similar in theirs old (ancient) time for people to release themselves in night. 4:03 “虎子” usually woo called it “夜壶” or “尿壶” and I believe that it isn’t for everyone, not for common folks, I believe. BTW 马桶(big size pottery bucket is also the “convenient private toilet(🚽) for many common folk in rural areas in China(certain areas) to piss at night inside the house.
