Warlock, what people forget is that you don't necessarily need to have a active patron. Some books refer to the Warlock just relying/learning their magic and abilities from various dangerous artifacts and tomes. You can own all the power instead of having it on loan, but due to the shortcuts and dangerous items used, you won't be on par with a Wizard or Sorcerer. Then find a way to become something equivalent of a Arch Lich. Immortality but no rotting body. Why would I want immortality? Because I'm indecisive and procrastinate, I need more time to waste on doubting.

Wizard. Sure, it's more work than being a sorcerer, but at the end of the day, the ability to swap out your spells every day is well worth the extra effort needed in order to get to that point. Plus, the incremental rewards where you can see the power level of your top spells grow as you level up would be a pretty good motivator to keep me invested, especially since there is no drawback for taking downtime. After a while, I get the clone spell and can make copies of myself at a younger age and get back the body of a 20-year-old (via the 8th level necromancy spell clone); all I need to do is make sure that I don't die of old age or any method that would lock away my soul, which would be pretty easy with spells like planeshift at my disposal. Sure, I would need to invest in weird tuning forks that I would lose, but as deadly as the elemental planes of fire, water or earth are for people who are actively not taking anything to help them survive in those places, there's no rules that say that I need to take literally anything else with me. I'm sure that having a weirdo wizard teleport himself into the middle of a place that he cannot survive and die almost immediately in the nude would probably confuse whatever locals would stumble across my body, but hey, that's their problem at that point, I'll be climbing out of the container my new body was in and enjoying the perks of being young all over again.

I'd have to say wizard, I don't know exactly what classes have access to what spells, but I do know that wizard has some of the best ones that I'd like. Simulacrum, Clone, Fabricate, Wish, Gate, Plane Shift, Glyph of Warding etc. Plus, there's a huge benefit that I really don't see others mentioning, access to summons. The Magic Circle, Glyph of Warding, Summon X-creature, and Planar Binding combo is ridiculous. You get minions who are bound to your will for the long term (if you upcast planar binding.) Material components can be a drag for this, but a competent wizard should be able to figure out a solution for that problem. At that point, you can summon martial creatures, or hell, more spellcasters. Now, the greater avenues of power within the D&D realms lay open to you. Do whatever you want at this point. Travel the realms, gather magical artifacts, achieve immortality, take over the world if that's your fancy. Personally, I'd like to solve the world's problems if it's within my power to do so, which at this point it really should be.

Wizard, without a doubt. We learn spells as we level up, and it ain't exactly easy to investigate magic based crimes if you're not expecting it. Just gotta get to level 17, get Wish, then wish to know every spell that any other class could possibly learn and not be overwhelmed by it. If you still have wish after that, wish for enough magical power to be able to freely cast all of them without ever needing to rest, but still being able to rest if you so desire. If you still have it after THAT, you just wish for perfect physical and mental strength in terms of what's possible for a human being. Boom. Every spell, infinite spell slots, and max stats. EZ. All it takes is casting Shatter on a support beam or the foundation of an apartment complex or an office building, and you've easily got enough exp for decent levels.

And the second you finish formulating your "OP wish," the DM of the universe starts laughing maniacally, and uses DM fiat to twist your "carefully thought out wish" into some sort of living nightmare. For example: You wished to be able to cast every spell, so your wish turns your body to stone as your mind is trapped in an unending lecture explaining the fundamentals of every type of spell. This unending lecture continues until the heat death of the universe. If it weren't for the fact that your sanity is long gone at this point, there would be a brief zeptosecond where you theoretically could start trying to cast one of those spell, but the petrification has an aftereffect of stun for a full round, so every atom that composes your body is torn apart before you're ever able to cast anything.

@@CatacombDokay, so youtube decided to bug the fuck out and delete my comments, but still. I'm certain I don't need to remind you of the 50 page wish. Hell, just add a clause to the wish that says "This only works as I intend, and cannot be taken in any literal sense other than what I intend for it." There are ways to make runon sentences without making it too obnoxious. Hell, just write your wish on a piece of paper and say, "I wish everything I have written on this piece of paper was true, and functions exactly as I intend regardless of the influence of other beings." Which does a number of things. It frees up your language capabilities, so you can't be cut off mid wish. Only you can write on this paper to change things, because you specify what you wrote, and for it to take effect as _you_ intend, so people can't take control of you to make you write things you don't want.

Thing to consider is if there are other people being granted classes as well. Like is this a whole world change or just you? Cause if it's just you, any class with healing suddenly gets a MASSIVE buff to how much 'soft' power you can influence others with and Clerics in particular with their access to Raise Dead so early may suddenly get a LOT of people in power willing to do a lot to keep you actively willing to rezz them which, while absolutely not as fun or as freeing as a druid's wildshape or a wizard's *everything* , probably has more potential for changing the world for the better than any amount of firepower or regular old Charisma ever will. -of course the downside is potential kidnapping but like that's where the combat magic comes in- (Also you can bring back people/pets you missed if they didn't die of old age so. That's. Scary tempting in its own right honestly. Oh and you can probably make a good amount of money just by being a cheaper alternative for hospitals to cure people with than idk stuff like chemo -if you're not going American doctor route- so like. Healing in the real world is OP really). ...That said, I think the main reason why I'm favoring Cleric the most is the idea of a deity that would actually be willing to pick me over anyone else. Like, I'm not particularly smart or focused or brave or anything noteworthy really and I'm not religiously inclined either so if they did pick me good odds it's because they want someone willing to discuss and chatter options and ideas with (friend! =DDD) or I share their ideals and can be trusted to bring those things about, and... I kind of like the idea of something/someone out there deciding that I of all people would be the one they trust for those~

if home bure is allowed i'd want to be a Chrono Duelist basically a home brew artificer from the future with some unique traits 1. cannot be affected by normal healing must use temporal revive which are spells unique to the class you can make a special potion that has the same effect but it requires a temporal stone which are extremely rare 2. their weapons are a pair of twin pistols with temporal stones inside as well as a wrist mounted tablet that they uses to program there spells as an action or just chose one of fore preselected spells as a bonus action also the guns keep the last programed spell till it gets changed 3. their 5 unique spells, A: Temporal familiar, targes an enemy and if successful turns them in to a humanoid familiar the more successfully the attack the longer it last and stronger the bond a nat 20 is permanent and can turn an elder dragon into a milf, fun story. B: Temporal way stone, creates a small plinth that people can bond to and teleport to from any other way stones at lv 15 you can deploy six at once it gets broken in boss fights C&D: Temporal Heeling and Revive a healing and revive spell/potion that only work on Chrono Duelist a chrono pistol set to one these spells can be fired by non Chrono duelist if its owner is incapacitated E: Temporal Bullet: basically just an elementally charged magic missel that can hit multiple targets or explode users choice. if not probably just a paladin

Tbh. I'd probably be a multiclass of sorcerer And warlock. Without being able to chose a subclass I'd already be quite powerful. And with the ability to chose my subclass. I'd have potential to be a demigod. Though I'd use this power to help others when I can and protect as many people as possible. But I'd specific chose to make sure I get the wish spell. It's one of the only ways to make certain things possible that would make others happy

Definitely Bard for me. I already love to tell stories and talk with just about everyone. Just feels like a natural fit. Altho that one guy does make an excellent case for Monk.

If I had to pick one from base rules, it would be a Bard. And not for the reasons most people do. I'm already decent at instruments, so I don't get a bonus there. And I also don't do anything in particular, so I wouldn't benefit from joat or such. No, the reason I'd go Bard is because... I want to know Vicious Mockery. So if I get into a situation where someone is threatening me or my loved ones, all I have to do is insult their mother and they *die*. And beyond that have all the healing capabilities of clerics and druids without the responsibilities involved. Subclass choice is College of Creation, because not only can I just... Make anything I want or need, but eventually to an unexpectedly vast degree. Did you know a 14th level Creation Bard can cast Heroes' Feast once per day for free by making the spell component with their Song of Creation?

I would choose any heavy crafty crafting class. Wizard/artificer would be my go to, though more likely artificer because I like working with my hands more than reading a book. I also love the idea behind "any sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic" trope that artificer can bring to the table.

I find the idea of a security person at a high school being the ranger class very funny. I mean, their favored enemy could be students/teenagers and natural explorer terrain as the school grounds. With the Hunter Archetype, if only going off the players hand book. And with spells like hunters mark, ensnaring strike, locate creature, etc. No kids trying to skip class would escape. And don't forget about the features they get.

I'd either want cleric Celestial warlock for the healing and that I can provide for my family or sorcerer or wizard sorcerer because I want to have the ease of having flexible magic and pick my favorite spells to make my everyday life better and my whole life spell for combat and then wizard cuz I get to know almost all the Spells

Tough one. My all-time favorite build was an Eladrin Mariner Scout Fighter/Immortal Mystic/Astral Soul Monk. Primarily wrecked with an eldritch claw tattoo when forced to fracas but refused to kill. No armor, only ever carried a rope and 10-foot pole.

I mean if we assume our real life abilities translate into our game stats in some way then I’d only really have potential as an artificer or wizard, I’m wimpy, not nimble, I’m not particularly sturdy, I suck at talking to people, and my special awareness and ability to read people is hot garbage; int would probably be my only stat with a positive modifier since I did pretty well in school up until gifted kid burnout in college. I’d probably take at least some artificer levels for healing and some other good spells wizards don’t get and be mostly wizard, being good with tools and having a wizard’s versatile spell list along with a familiar would be pretty great. If we got to choose stats or had better stats than what we have irl there’s some features from other classes I’d love to have, Jack of all trades and expertise from bard are super tempting even if I had low charisma just to be good at stuff. Any healing is much appreciated and Paladin’s lay on hands is super simple and straightforward and can even heal disease and poison without even expending spell slots, plus being immune to disease early on makes Paladin the best option for a medic that can treat disease without risk of becoming infected aside from maybe a high level mercy monk, but paladins get those features way earlier and auras are super dope, but the high level monk features like speaking all languages are definitely some of the best for quality of life.

Bard. Highest earning potential, and easily the most proverbial doors opened. And also, probably the most fun too. Artificer would be my second choice.

Peasant, but i imagine being a sorcerer because people keep saying I'm smart but i have no idea what I'm doing ether. On what i want, it depends on the magic system. I'm incredibly lazy and so being a sorcerer would also be cool and unless I'm wild magic, it doesn't seem to have many drawbacks, so probably my first choice. Artificer would also be nice as i am interested in science and i imagine it would be very interesting and fun, but I'm dumb and it sounds like a lot of work, so second. If i could form a pact with a possessed or enchanted thing, that would be cool, but it may not be just "this thing gives me the ability to use magic! Cool!" And may have a pretty serious cost, so third depending. Druids can shape shift, I'd like to so that but there's not much else that would be very useful for me, so tied with warlock(depending on the conditions for warlock).

I think I'd probably go 3.5 artificer. I'd get to tinker and build cool stuff that everyone would find useful. It'd be a pretty good way to make money, and unlike so many others running around getting killed in dungeons or wherever, I could stay at home in comfort. Also, having access to pretty much all spell lists for enchanting would give me huge versatility. Need a specific spell or effect? No problem, pull it from whatever spell list and make it into a wand, staff, or scroll. I can make little minions to help me out, guard me, or be a friend. Best of all it'd let me make stuff to help keep those I care about alive.

I think that genie warlock of the djinni variety is one of the best options since you get limited wish which gives you every spell of 6th level or lower you also get regular wish which is great. it was a toss up between dao and djinni because dao has better self defense spells and djinni has better escape ones. but djinni has greater invisibility which is real good. plus djinni are good creatures which is nice. now the main attraction here is the home you get to go around with for free which is amazing. another fun thing is you can fly which you know is always good. and of course you can store spells in glyph's of warding for a rainy day.

Wizard: the freedom from needing a patron or the approval of a deity or nature, or needing a very specific bloodline, mixed with the ability to grow through study, experience, and experimentation. With a bit of a jumping off point, wizards are able to be independently successful, or to work well on a team. There's lots of magic that's just generally useful in everyday life, and when you meet another wizard you can hang out and copy spells to each others' mutual benefit. Sure there's the born-into-luck sorcerer, and that's perfect if you can simply choose anything (seriously, good option). Otherwise, Wizard is a skillset you can earn and build up yourself, by your own volition, and not need to be eternally beholden to others who could abuse or discard you.
