Watched this video. The info provided, sometimes is a bit misleading, since you are comparing a team with obviously bad devs. Let’s compare meta or google teams, if I’m not mistaken, they don’t have testers and QA deps. Software engineers do the testing and if you add the right kind into this person, he/she will overcome the QA engineer, since they developed the feature and know how to test it by its full coverage, while QA rarely go to code and check it under the hood. So, if you set or find the right mindset for a dev, you, probably, won’t need the QA team at all. But the cost is the leading factor here…

Also, don’t forget that as bad devs exist, also bad testers do exist as well, and when bad QA happen, then it’s barely do any impact and in this case, I think, it’s worth to get rid of him/her and even let the team exist without QA (considering we are very low on budget and have to choose)

I’ve been both in Google and Facebook campuses visiting friends that work as QA in these companies :). I’m not sure where this misconception coming from. But both Google and Facebook have QA
