If DRIV3R Was Remastered | FH 4/3/2

What if DRIV3R was remastered? I find out using the Forza Horizon series (and a bit of NFS Heat).
While faring poorly with reviews and ratings due to its many bugs and flimsy shooting mechanics, DRIV3R still holds a special place in my heart. I would spend endless hours in "Take a Ride" mode just exploring each of the 3 cities, finding the hidden cars, messing with the cops... to me it was always more than just a "GTA Clone" because of that.

Imagine 2020 Driv3r Remastered version without glitches, fully developed and enhanced detailed game with the same story, but now you are able to drive with steering wheel with fully supported force feedback!

And a even more chaotic version of the game modes you unlock after killing the ten Timmy Vermicellis... :)

If i was a game director i would push for this fully i would try to convince the person that owns the rights to the game to bring it to life or i would try to buy the rights to the game. multiplayer would be a must and different modes to unlock sounds awesome too.

It's not really profitable. Most devs remake games that are actually remembered well, driv3r is remembered for how stupid it was, it's janky as hell so they would never do it

i never play this game driv3r but it looks really great, i'm more fan of GTA Series one of my favorite its San Andreas and dont know if you know but Rockstar has confirmed to make verison remastered of GTA trilogy having GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas, i have hope that it will be very good and i'm waiting for it indeed.

Oh God the memories... If they only had more time to finish the game, and didn't wasted money on known actors this game could be sooo good. Even tho it came out pretty bad, I still had a lot of fun with this game as a kid. There was such a potential in this game. And the music, the music is just great.

Driver 2 had nothing to do on foot, and you seem to forget that there was another two GTA games. Was the series "supposed" to stay top-down 2.5D forever so it wouldn't be "copying" Driver? Also Urban Chaos had more to do on foot but some driving too.

In an alternate reality, Driver 3 was released complete and went on to trump GTA. Driver San Francisco never existed but Tanner ended up being revived to return as the main character in Driver 4 on the PlayStation 3. We'd all be excited for Driver 6 releasing on PlayStation 5 as a launch title in 2020. I may never get over the thought of what Driver could have been with just a little bit more dev time on Driv3r.

Mom never understood that this wasn't just a GTA clone. She hid the game from me and I found it one day. I left the case in the hiding place and would play when she wasn't home. Hid the game in my Matrix game case behind the manual. I attribute my love of cars and driving to this game in my youth.

People, in this day and age, probably have no idea about how big of a deal, Driv3r, was to be back then; It had everything going for it! Cinematic direction, top notch voice acting, three huge cities, incredible graphics, out of this world soundtrack, unbelievable driving physics, detailed interiors to explore... but the shooting sessions and the lack of proper AI, mixed up with the game being aglitchy mess all around, completely destroyed, what could have, certainly been, one of the greatest games ever made. To this day, I still cannot believe how tthe publisher at the time, messed it all up! It's surreal... the publisher at the time should've delayed the damn thing for 6 more months or so! ...it was shaping well, but a lot of programing, testing and fixing was clearly required; Instead, they rushed it out the door. Had the thing been developed all the way through, things in this industry, would have turned out differently. Been wondering though; Should Stuntman have been skipped all together? It was a test bed for their newest, at the time, engine, true; But still... Lots of time and resources were wasted on it; Maybe, Driv3r should've been prioritised right away; Maybe. I'd be all for something like this, though; Video's spectacular; If anything, the third Driver should be remade from the ground up!

This does look incredible. Just to go for a virtual drive would be awesome, these cities look incredible like this. I think the PS2 screen resolution is an average standard VGA at 640x480. Upscaling the res works wonderfully with these textures - the developers really did a great job with the detail. And I'm sure the draw distance has improved too - I can't see any level of detail working its way into the scenery. Top job!

This brings me back! I remember playing this on my Xbox, and I would spend hours in free roam, in the three cities. Exploring every inch, and getting my wanted level up. My personal favorite was always Miami, and they did a fantastic job at recreating it and the other cities. God how I miss those days, care free and no worries! And imo driv3r was underrated. Sure it had issues, but the soundtrack, and world was amazing.

I really feel what you are saying in the description. It also holds a special place in my heart because I would spend hours and hours making short films in the director mode (one of the few games to feature such a mode). I've made countless short films. I'm a film maker (more an editor/ animator these days) and this game has a big part in me getting interested in film making and editing. So I owe this game a lot when it comes to that (hated that they removed it in Parallel Lines). It has also shaped my musical taste a lot because I love the music in this game, especially the song ''Exit'' from ''Stateless''. Even though this game had A LOT of problems and the city's felt dead and lifeless compared to GTA and even the True Crime games, I loved this game and it's awesome to see how it could've looked like if it was remastered.

If Atari hadn't interfered, this probably would have been an excellent game. If you look deep enough, you can tell that there was a lot of love and passion that went into this game. The fantastic driving (as usual), the damage model, the environments, 3 seperate maps. If we could get a team to finish the game. Improve the shooting mechanic (a lock on system), Tanner's movement, update the graphics, and flesh out the bugs to get this game a proper send off. I know it's a HUGE pipedream, but it bugs me to see the devs put in so much work on a game that sadly got lost in corporate greed.
