Yet, all the mouthbreathers run around acting like that's the set standard per GTA V and RDR 2, so if enough of your audience believes in that fallacy, they'll feel more enabled to lean on it and kick the can down the road. Rockstar developers need to better balance lead time while maintaining quality end product. Taking a decade or more is excessive. RDR 2 should've been the limit at 7 3/4 years formally invested and not this a product that has allegedly taken nearly a decade or longer in overall investment. If they want to be in the business of not expanding their product creatively within a timely window (5-7 years), then some of us will just move on. There will definitely be concessions made in some areas, on the premise that they "ran out of time", as if they didn't have it in the first place. The quality is superb, but there's a limit to these things. One day a competitor will come and blow them out of the water, at 50-75% the time it takes to make these games. GTA VI will not have this issue, GTA 7/VII might have that competition. Across so many industries, I have seen long heralded successors to leading products underwhelm due to high expectations placed from unusually long cycles of the outgoing products and the new product arriving with a sense of incompleteness.
