I agree. As a 55 year old single, I loathe what feels like psychological manipulative games. Nobody appreciates that. Be real, lean in and commit to the process. At my age we're not worried about creating a family but blending in adult children, life experiences and going forth in a new partnership. Many men will close up when hurt, even worse than women do because we have different coping mechanisms and may need women to lead and create that safe space. Many are willing to have a "companion" rather than a real partnership which most women prefer. I'm looking for a man that I can enjoy the next 40 years with, or however long we can.

Exactly what I just went through with the ex-boyfriend. He just shot his foot. I couldn’t stand his avoidant behavior anymore. To be fair though, he told me in the beginning, since we were both just coming out of a divorce, that he thought this might be a good distraction for both of us. Never had a true loving relationship. Coming from a dysfunctional family, I lived what I learn and saw in my family dynamics, of course. Married for 25 years to a man that never stopped dating. Ignorant and defeated, I finally served him papers, much to his surprise. He didn't know that I still had a seed of a backbone to do this. A friend saw me in the store one day a month after the divorce. Her words, " good lord you look great, he, (my ex), must have sucked the life out of you when you were with him!" .A pretty good observation of how much stress can change you in many areas, not just in the appearance. It took 5 years to get back to a, "me", that I could recognize. A couple of men told me I look 45, when I am actually 66 in a couple of months. That little/big statement gave me a sort of new life. Yeah!, what a compliment. Ok, so why am I writing? Talk about the silent ones, insecure body building gym rats, the narcissistic lifestyle, the constant affirmations from other women by having affairs, not involved with their child except when he has time, controlling the finances, this was 25 years of this jerk. The resources available to me were there, thank goodness, I read many books. Your spots on relationships has been helpful in a big way also. I am happy, single, doing what I like. I'm ready for a good man ......... and a dog. Hehehe

He never will n it took 2.5 yrs of me trying to help him understand, until I finally got it. And it took a lot for me to fall out of love but after to breakups and me moving out by myself for a year and going back for a couple mos until August. I finally saw the light and the sad part is it took my 15 yr old son and 16 yr old daughter to tell me, “Mom! He’s toxic. U need to leave n not go back.” I swear the have more wisdom than I do at times. I can’t be more proud of them & thankful. At least when it comes to them I’ve taught and talked to them about enough life and relationship experiences so that they get it. They are my biggest accomplishments! He was married for 35 years ( was very happy) He and his wife did a lot of traveling and he stated he would like to do the same with me. What concerns me is he is constantly mentioning "MY wife and I" at least 29 times in our conversations. MY concern is that I am going to live in her shadow and that those memories will over shadow ours. I understand that those memories are important but I want my mate to be present when creating our memories and to reflect on those moments when he tells others about our trips.

I'm so sorry about Connor Jonathon. I know this is an older video nonetheless. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. God Bless you. 🙏❤️

This is valuable information because so many of us women see contact as more significant than it really is. I'm just realizing this myself. I'm grateful for these 'the relationship is a two-lane street' relationship videos to create accountability and perspective in the relationship journey.

@@JonathonAslay I agree with Josephine Burke. I will add..... Some of us are happy. Some are happy in a relationship. Some are happy and single. Yet we watch relationship videos to gain insight, to always be prepared and armed; to help others; to learn; to confirm our thoughts and beliefs.......and of course to be entertained by a really funny guy!🙂 Excellent content and mesmerising passion.

Yessssss I dated a guy off & on for 3 years & it never went anywhere because it was off & on I was so sick of it and really felt like i was being used ( another video of yours ) he never even wanted to spend the night because of his mental illness & then in desperation he asked to move in with me ( Bc he was being forced to move from his apartment) and I said NO ! Why would I let a man move in my house that can’t even spend the night ! SMH 🤦♀️ well like I said in my other comments on other videos that he ended up taking his own life, so that ended that. Been working hard on myself for the past 2 1/2 years NOT putting up with any BS going forward!

I just love your channel. The fact that you are so honest and genuine, and your integrity attracted me with the very first video. I'm so glad that you found your perfect mate, too. I'm working on mine now, and your advice matches everything that I did on my own, So, you confirmed my actions and now, it's a whole lot more serious. The power and ability to "walk away" is a deal maker. A person's confidence in knowing who "they" are, is pure freedom and so attractive to others. Thank you so much!

Have same thing with eldest son. He passed 4 years ago. And today I was asked about family portraits and I was thinking about how to bring him into that although he's not here.

Yes Jonathon, all the previous relationships really sucked because they were not progressing. Oh, that was painful, felt like pulling the teeth, so I totally get your message. Getting wiser! 🙏🥰

So sorry for your loss 😓...I cannot imagine losing a child...I have two kids, a daughter and a son...and three grandbabies...I am so BLESSED!!! If you could give your view on a relationship with a Narcissist...I was in one for little over a year, I finally left him over two months ago, due to I saw a text message on his phone from another woman...I am now in the healing process of being with that person...Thanks in advance for your response...
