Best mode to keep is in off road plus to get the best feel Sand: lean back to weigh the back wheel and hold the bars very very gently and look ahead, not down - this lets the front wheel do it’s thing. Turning at LOW speeds is SAME whether road or ADV bike which is to lean opposite of the bike to maintain centre of gravity. Important to note this is SAME as on a Road bike AT LOW Speeds like in a parking lot or u turns etc. Slow maneuvers: cover clutch 1 or 2 fingers, cover rear brake and pump it gently often to maintain slow controlled speed Normal riding I always use the front brake mostly especially the PanAm has linked braking anyway.

@@TravelingTall BTW, the deep sand you guys were riding in, hate to say this but that was not really “deep” sand, more like regular sand on any trail that has sand. In deep sand, you need the knobby tires and speed and momentum are needed to be successful.

That looks like a fun training! I think it is great that HD is doing this type of training, it might work to get more people to light off-road. I like this type of riding, and there is a lot of it in my area. And a good job for not letting fear get in your way.

Great riding Tall….I am a long time Harley rider as well and recently purchased a BMW R 1250 GSA as a second bike to my Road Glide….but I don’t haven’t the off road riding experience either….can’t wait to attend this type of training as I think it will make us better road riders too. I was curious what you think of the leg room on the Pan American since you’re tall as well? Also, what tire setup did they have on these bikes for the training?

I want to know what was done to set up the bike for you. Im 6'5" and my ADV bikes require a lot of messing in order for me to ride them. especially standing without being bent up in positions that limit my balance.

A dirt bike would be cool but it wouldn't be as great on the road Traveling long stretches of highway at 80 plus. Or changing the suspension and throttle response at the flip of the button, seamlessly transitioning from sport mode, road mode, off road, and off road plus. The great thing about the modes they actually work. It's a great bike, go test ride one you'll love it.

This is a Harley-Davidson Pan America, its an Adventure bike that you can take off road and on road. It will run up to 130 mph and with its powerful vtwin you can get there quick. It has several ride modes and an adaptive ride height suspension. Stop by you local HD dealer to check one out, it's an awesome motorcycle.
