Why is everyone saying Celestia is a jerk who only cares about herself I know that she sent Luna away because she turned evil,but she did not do that so she could rule alone she loves her sister and She did it to protect Equestria. And Luna is not a villain she was turned into one and then Twilight saved Luna from evil... Basically inside of Luna was a fight between good and evil.

Maybe Celestia was self-absorbed and didn't notice Luna's problems. Maybe it was somehow in the middle. We don't know and we'll probably never know it.

I've constantly thought about this Celestia vs. NMM/Luna situation, and replayed the scenario in my head many times. It feels as if Celestia knew Luna would come back as NMM with a vengeance for being forced to drown in her own tears for a thousand years. So, she prepared in advance and placed her trust in the power of friendship between Twilight and her friends. If this is true, Celestia's plan was extremely risky, but risks had to be taken when the stakes were that high.
