I have a theory that the black splotch around lunas cutie mark is the leftover of the nightmare moon spirit. That’s why when they gave up their magic the splotch remained, but when Luna and celestia switched, she lost it. That’s also why celestia had a dream of her evil form, that was the spirit trying to get to her.

I’ve seen people talk about the auto tune and the inconsistent pitch but I just want to say that as someone who loves singing, being able to change pitch with the song so many times without hurting my voice or sounding off is really nice. It's amazing how this is the first time I've come across this despite how long of a fan I've been. I gotta say this has to be one of my favorite pieces of content featuring Luna. I love the art style of the animatic, giving so much energy and expression despite the frame timing. Nightmare looks utterly terrifying in this, like an actual shadow demon of Luna's making or something. The voice work is so fitting, and that last line "I'll see you there Luna" had such a demonic sting to it I actually got chills. I actually kind of wish this was the dynamic they went with in the show proper, that Nightmare was not destroyed as she is as much Luna as Luna is Nightmare, and the development was her having to accept that part of her to be able to rise above it.

i like how in this version, Luna stops herself at 1:30 not because Nightmare Moon interrupted her like most other covers, but because she is so terrified of even voicing how close to the edge she is to her demons. she's practically petrified with fear until Nightmare Moon starts singing. you can even hear the fear in her voice during the line, "There's such a fine line between a good mare and a.." kudos to the singer, she did such a good job with Luna.

I know I am kind of late into the game, but... This is so neatly put together. The lyrics, the artistry and the way of which your voice changes ever so slightly to distinguish between Luna and Night, also fitting the characters like a glove. There was already a lot of theatric potential on this piece alone and you have somehow managed to gift it with even more life! You're right, it just fits Luna's situation so ideally. This video is so loaded to the brim with great things it's just a shame the whole sound editing aspect distorts at times. If it wasn't because of that, it'd be perfect. I say this needs a 202X update. For those MLP fans who have either just arrived or didn't get the chance to find this back in the day before the algorithm buried it. They deserve to experience this impeccable performance as well, in HD resolution at that if possible. That's all I had to say. Safe travels y'all!
