If I Have A $60,000 Budget, Should I Go Manual Supra or Manual Nissan Z? It's Not A Clear Winner

Closely priced and closely specced, both the manual Toyota Supra and the manual Nissan Z are great sports car choices.

Supra MT all day long. Probably why you see more of them on the road is because more people want it over the Z. I have my 2024 supra MT on order waiting to arrive in the spring. Can't wait!

As a Z owner the good choice is definitely the Supra. The Z is currently overpriced due to dealer markups and needs additional mods to make it a complete package. When they can't sell them and drop the price then the Z becomes more compelling, just not when its full price or marked up.

GR Supra 6-speed manual for sure. It would be interesting if I could get the elusive Base model Z for MSRP at $42k. If they could have made that base model with an optional LSD and actually built them they would have sold a lot.

@@ShiftingLanes The dealership I got my GR Corolla at (MSRP only dealership) has been allocated 3 GR Corollas this year and 0 GR Supras. Nissan and Toyota need to make more of both cars!

Only problem with the Base Z doesn’t come with a LSD. Kinda crazy for $45k.

@@cavasenothat is crazy, but you can buy a built z1 motorsports lsd, which would be better than both the Supra and the z performances lsd For 1700 dollars. 42k + 1700= 43700. It’s still much cheaper than the performance, and with that extra money you could use it in modifications to make the z much faster, get better brakes, and tires, sway bars and suspension, it’ll handle like a beast. Upgrade the turbos and your looking at 750 wheel horsepower on e85 the z and the Supra have 372 whp and 390whp. That is a massive difference, and the upgrades are cheaper than upgrading the Supra. Base z is the way to go, but of course there aren’t any.

I like the sound of the Supra and like that they have the manual now but I personally like the Z for the looks hand break witch I didn’t know the Supra didn’t have What it comes down to for me is what is more eye appealing to me and like you said I seen way more Supras than Nissan Z’s. And that’s just how I always been. But will more than likely get a 2012-2018 R35

The Supra looks better and more aggressive. The B58 is a great engine. Also, the Supra is slightly faster and more fun to drive. Toyota > Nissan all day! I want a car that gets a 'WOW' everytime I see one and thats the Supra. Only way I would get the Z if I've already own the GR Supra and wanted a Z to sit next to it, assuming I have the money.

Neither, pocket 30k and get Toyota GR86/Subaru Brz (the twins). Just as fun, acutally more so cause it is 700 POUNDS LIGHTER than both these decevingly heavy cars that drive like a boat in comparison. GR86/BRZ for the win!

I'm getting so confused now..(after watching all your Z/Supra comparo videos). You say the Z is roomier inside (but less luggage space) and its suspension is tuned more for a long distance touring car (not a track oriented car) it has a more subdued exhaust sound (Supra is far more sporty sounding) Then you go onto say, the Supra is far more luxuries inside, and has more modern tech...and therefore is the better long distance GT touring car of the two?? And the Supra has more luggage space for long road trips?

Having owned a 370Z, I was very much looking forward to the new Z when it was first announced. Then it finally came out and a lot of what I saw and hear from car reviewers lessened the excitement a bit. But still I had hope and was still planning to purchase one. But then came the time to finally see and test drive the Z for my self.. that pretty much killed it for me. All the hype from Nissan but the final product is lackluster. Thank Toyota for bringing out the manual Supra, it is what I expected the Z to be. Anyways went and bought the new M2, if you can squeeze the extra dollars get pass the exterior(It eventually grew on me.. still not as good looking as the Supra)get the M2,

I'd Spend the money on a clean 90s 300zx TT or 90s Supra TT that needs a little work. But I'm just a 90s Japanese fan

About 1000 Z's and 6000 Supra's will be sold in 2023. I've never seen either on the road. A lot of hype for cars that very very few people actually buy. I guess they look cool sitting and sitting in dealer's showrooms.

They aren't sitting in showrooms, unfortunately. Source: have 6 m/t Supra on order with half the dealers in my state. Some dealers got 1-2 last year, some none at all. The low sale volume is driven entirely by low production numbers.

Before I bought my G87 M2, I was shopped and test drove both the Supra and the new Z. Hands down the Supra is the better buy.. it has the better engine, the better brakes, sharper steering, drove like a sports car(the Z is more of a soft GT car) adjustable dampers, better agility, better exhaust sound, better manual or automatic transmission, better interior materials, better infotainment, better fit and finish.. I can go on and on. The few things the Z does better is it is easier to get in and out of, more comfortable seats(better for long drives), more interior space and usability, better looking steering wheel and sounding horn. If the Z was priced 10K less it would be the better buy than the Supra, but its not and is only a few thousand less.. therefore you would be crazy not to buy the Supra over the Z.

The Z looks better but needs suspension and brakes upgrade. The Supra is a better car by a lot. Maybe think about an m240i. I’ve seen them recently for about $53k for the RWD and $55k for the xDrive. Out of the two I would go Supra.

Heel-toe… the clue is in the name. Depending on the pedal spacing and hinge location either style can work effectively

I like the look of the Z better, but its just not that good of a car. I think the Supra is ugly. Particularly where the door blends into the rear fender. I think for me the answer is going to be M2.

Why would anyone buy a MANUAL.?.6 gears at that.. when the newly equipped 7 -10 speed Computer controlled transmissions are available. You've lost the race before you even got the track 🤣😁🤣😁 The bafoolery I hear about ohh well I feel connected to the car in a manual.
