0:34 I actually have quite a bit to say on this note. I think the best thing to represent what I'm talking about is Poppt's experiences himself. If you've been watching Poppt1's videos recently, you'll see a gradual escalation in Poppt1's confidence in being so good. He's obviously the best out of the Underdogs and regarded as both the best and the lamest of the underdogs. But then he goes online and just loses to random Elite Smashers, over and over and over again. I think Poppt has basically accepted at this point that he's merely a fish in a large sea of good players, anyone can come in and screw him over. He even mentions in the Iron Man video that he has no idea why his egotistical brain thought he could win an Iron Man, but it's probably because Poppt is so used to being good at Smash when playing against the other Underdogs as well as being the top of his region for many years, that this sudden rush of losing to Elite Smashers is pretty new to him and he hasn't gotten used to it. This also applies to what Little Z was talking about awhile ago. A lot of the casuals don't really play Smash that often anymore and a lot of the Elite Smash players are really good. It's gotten to the point that Little Z became a person who I thought was good at Smash, to someone I consider decently good, but nothing amazing. I myself and my friend group are probably better smash players than him. With all these good players, it makes it a thing so that you can't really turn off your brain against all these Elite Smashers or you'll just get destroyed by people who are trying hard or you have to play lame and patient a lot, which to a lot of people isn't all that fun. This is why (at least in my opinion) Little Z doesn't post a lot of straight-up Elite Smash gameplay anymore, because it isn't easy to constantly win in Elite Smash anymore. As much as I would enjoy Little Z suffering in Elite Smash, I'm sure it's not a great experience for him (he even rage quit in the Kazuya video for instance and we all know Little Z is the most salty of the Underdogs). Now to get to my point, the downside of everyone just getting so good at Smash is that people who were good before, are no longer good, meaning styling and beating casuals has become harder to come by. Whether we all want to admit it or not, styling on casuals is pretty fun if you're much better than them. However, losing over and over isn't fun and if you're trying to style on people who are on an equal skill level, you're in for a rough time. The only people who can avoid this type of problem are the top players because they're the best in the world. However even for instance, Nairo had to attempt many Iron Mans, grinding out long sessions, clearly meaning that there are people who can contend at least somewhat with him. However, most of us aren't top players, and sometimes you just want to go online and play for fun rather than trying to tryhard all the time. That isn't easy unless you've purposely dropped to a low GSP (which I think is still fine, but others don't). So basically to summarize, the effects of everyone getting better at Smash. - It's harder to style on people. - It's harder to win without trying hard. - It's harder to play casually if you're at high GSP. - Smash players who were good before, are no longer good. - Competitive toxicity increases. In conclusion, do I think it's a good or bad thing that everyone has gotten better at the game? Frankly, I want to say, yes and no. For people like Little Z who probably don't constantly seek a competitive challenge, this flood of people getting better is probably a net negative for him. For people who are competitive and seek to get in real practice like Poppt at times, it's pretty good because you have plenty of people online who'll be good practice. It's all about what you enjoy as a Smash player as to whether you want to take it as a positive or a negative.

The worst thing about getting too good for casual is the super weird controls you need to practice (for instance in rocket league I'm probably hard stuck because I dont want to spend extra time training mechanics, it just feels like my fingers are doing something unnatural and weird and the controller feels uncomfortable and is going to have me arrested)
