BLENDER 101 1) Get started - Set up simple goals for you to achive in your first 4 weeks - One major goal for the month (render) - Do it 3 times 2) Get good (enough) - Make one project per week (for at least 3 months) - Orgnising yourself to improve in different sectors of 3D 3) Get serious - Find your niche - Getting clients { 1) Biuld: Create a portfolio that is inside your niche 2) Land: Contact people that may need your services (2/100) 3) Network: "Thanks for working with me! Do you know anyone else needing my services? ..." }

One of the biggest problems with learning 3d on my own has been finding a learning path. There really are no linear paths here and KZbin tutorials often skip the "why" and "how" things work and instead rely on the result to speak for itself. The problem here is that this doesn't teach you anything. It's also frustrating that there is no supplemental documentation to carry away at the end of a tutorial or lesson to study and learn from. Instead, you have to skip through the memes and hope you understand the workflow because these videos aren't geared towards people becoming professionals. It's easy to re-post other people's tutorials (just look at how many copycat videos imitating Ian Hubert's style) or just re-post the skimming of the documentation for another "hey, guys!" video to earn dollars on KZbin. Once you realize this you can easily find the areas you are deficient in and improve those skills specifically.

Excellent guide video. It can be overwhelming learning any app or software as robust as Blender. Great tips for structuring your own learning path and pace for growth. I'm still learning and growing myself using your ideas for personal development. Although my business is primarily focused on branding and logo design; adding 3D to the visual presentations I share with clients has added a significant amount of value to my work. I can confidently charge more and be content with the rejections because when someone does says "yes," it's almost always much better than trying to work with clients who don't want to invest in the offer presented to them. Continue encouraging others, teaching, and sharing your creative genius wiht the world.

Always helps me understand the reasons for things I previously didn't like uv maps also troubleshoting and learning what i need as i go allows me to find multiple methods to do the same thing in without overwhelming me with things I don't need at the moment. I think the hardest concept for me was shaders and materials specifically the difference. Also that you need to save texture file separate from your blend

This tackles the "tutorial overwhelming" issue head on, I've started learning blender about 4 different times, almost got a solid donut render last time, but as pointed out here, I needed the first 3 dumb projects, smaller, simpler, just getting to a point where I'm comfortable with the tools and, more importantly, FINISHING SOMETHING. I'm going back at it with this mindset now, and I've set up an alarm to 2 months from now to come comment here, hopes up!

Wow... I actually started really getting into OSRS this year, so, these analogies actually helped a lot. Starting out, I had this HUGE goal, and I do still have this huge goal, ( Theatre of Blood pet and the Sanguine Dust, maybe the Scythe of Vitur ) but I took a step back and started just doing the small goals that will lead me that way naturally, and enjoy the grind, and the moments of achievement that come between. Now I feel like I'm actually LEARNING the game. The same applies with Blender. I have HUGE goals, animating and rigging models I made in environments I made for whatever content I'd like them in, streaming, games, animated videos... But I need to start thinking of it like the OSRS grind! Great advice!

I was honestly expecting this video to be more specific, kind of like a "pipeline" for beginners before they reach their "niche", because I'm honestly still experimenting with my pipeline, currently doing Crossmind Studios beginner tutorial after doing 2 donuts and 1 chair tuto by Andrew Price. Been playing around with Blender for almost 1 year and I'm still messing around with beginner tutorials because honestly I think its a struggle for "beginners" like me to kind of figure out my basics although I want to major in Animation as my niche. There's basically too much stuff to take in because everything relates to each other like modelling, texturing, rigging, etc. You can't just expect a chef to just know how to fry an egg and be called a professional. Same thing like blender, that is why I'm still stuck with beginner tutorials and basics, because as long as my basics aren't polish I will not go into Animation. Sorry for the long rant, entertaining video btw.

I've been doing blender semi-seriously for about 6 months now. Just now approaching level 2. I as well am having a hard time figuring out how to progress into the animation department. I'm finally OK at modelling but animation seems like fighting Mike Tyson in comparison in difficulty 🤣😭

@@aydenmcfly1362 Oh boy, in terms of modelling I think I'm okay-ish but not too fluent into it. I haven't gone into learning retopo and such, just normal modelling using simple mesh shapes with extrudes and bevels. The hardest im going through right now is having to learn through all the basics, its hard to stay focus as that is not i wanted to do. I felt like going straight into animation but i know i will regret not polishing my basics.

@aydenmcfly1362 Жыл бұрын
@@the7jinn yeah I haven't touched retopo either XD it's extremely daunting 😂 glad software is making is slightly easier like the recent updates in blender. Have you ever heard of something called tutorial hell, it's something we have in programming, the only way to go into animation is to just start building animation, embrace being bad, improve from that, no tutorial is going to take you from beginner to A* unless you really implement what you have learnt.

Im in a weird situation, I’m a video game animator for my day job, been using Maya for over a decade. I mentor people on game dev (basically help them along the path of making a game over the course of a year). Maya getting rid of student liscence a makes doing the animation modelling and rigging in Maya prohibitively expensive for students so now I’m learning blender, ironically to teach blender.

Felt pretty confident around blender after doing a course, but then I tried to just follow a very simple character tutorial today for like 4 hours and it just didn´t work. Had the same issue when trying to learn drawing, my brain sometimes just *refuses* to connect the dots for some reason. Honestly, at this point I´m about just to quit and become a gardener. lol

In today's job market and AI advancements, gardener seems like a good idea lol

Do you have any recommendations for a beginner who desires an academic studying style of Blender? Any books or formal guides on learning blender? I am looking for a straight to the point learning experience with all the technical jargon that isn’t video. Much appreciated and thank you for producing content. 👍

I'm like that scene in Toy Story. We're Andy says I don't want to play with you anymore, dropping him on cards into the void. Me to my coloring pencils and paper. Ready to pick blender up. And start making stuff in 3d rendered environments.
