Gonna agree. The schtick track is not the way to go here. As someone who's played the role with my community youth theatre organization, the first thing my director talked about with me, Lazar, Golde, and Yente was staying away from being funny to the point of seeming ridiculous. The far more important thing is being honest and representing the Jewish people that went through this awful historical event.

This moment shows Tevye fantasizing about wealth and feeling giddy, his silly demeanor works to emphasize how powerful Tevye's hope can be even in the face of despairing events. Jews are human, just because it was an awful historical event doesn't mean they can't and didn't have times of joy.

@@BlueJayYTI agree that Tevye should be more happy in this song since he is fantasizing about wealth and I like the rest of his performance with the other songs. But I disagree with his performance here. It’s too campy to the point where it doesn’t feel like Tevye anymore.
