Rented a top-trim Pacifica (Non-hybrid) moving my kid back from college last May and was absolutely surprised at how enjoyable it was to drive a total of 6h. Although I’ve driven minivans on occasion in the past, I now see why they’ve been so popular, especially with its space and innovative ergonomics. Chrysler not producing an SUV, CUV, or something else (similarly) in the past decade was more than likely an unfortunate miss imo.

In 2019 I traded my 2015 Durango rt for a premium plus s after finding out I was going to be having twins (with a 4 yr old already). It was probably the best vehicle buying decision in my life. It has been the PERFECT family vehicle. I recommend anyone with a family of 5 or more, please please consider a minivan before an SUV. Aside from towing, they're the better family hauler in every possible way. I would also mention that I have a fwd model and the need for awd has never been an issue for me, even in New England with simple Michelin all seasons. And if you really need the boost and don't want the AWD model, dedicated winter tires go a loooooong way.

If it wasn’t for the late Sergio Marchionne we wouldn’t have a reason to think Chrysler wouldn’t exist. He made a complete mess out of Chrysler and Dodge. He kills the popular volume version to keep one version for what was supposed to be the luxury brand of the trio. Not to mention moving the trucks over to Ram, killing the Journey with no redesign, and leaving only niche muscle cars in the only volume brand you have (aside from Jeep). Imagine if VW axed every Audi model and moved the Atlas over to Audi. THAT is basically what Marchionne did with Dodge and Chrysler. Chrysler had its share of bad management but my god Marchionne takes the cake. He not only mixed up models without a clue but completely destroyed the identity of the brand.

Roman, In regard to the CR low rating of the van, let me just add that as a CR subscriber for many years, I take it with a grain of salt. I have owned several Dodge, Plymouth, and 3 Jeeps over many years, and found them all to be very reliable. They have historically been wrong on the cars I’ve owned. Our 2019 Wrangler S is very reliable, no death wobble, nothing. My 2015.5 Volvo S60 is great, best car I’ve ever owned, and very underrated. I look at TFL reviews and other online extensive reviews being more accurate. Thanks for the review here.

You really have to read the individual write ups on each vehicle with CR. They seem to measure all recalls the same. CR “the car with 3 recalls is worse because it has 3 recalls.”

I can't imagine being a Chrysler dealer with one new vehicle to sell...I assume most picked up a Jeep, Dodge and Ram as part of their franchise. Having said that, we have a 2017 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite with 104,000 miles on it. We just did the big service which includes timing belt, water pump, plugs etc...I'm curious as to the fuel capacity as the Odyssey, gets about 500 to 550 miles on a tank of gas averaging about 28 plus MPG if driven prudently on the highway.

We own a 2022 Pac Hy and overall it’s been a great van. I don’t care about the “stigma” with vans, to each their own. It’s been a supremely comfortable van. We live in FL and have driven it to Montana/Colorado/Utah/Wyoming/Idaho and all over the mountains of NC with zero problems at all. It fits our family of 5 comfortably and has room for everything we need. It’s so easy to flip the seats down, throw our huge beach wagon and paddle board into, and we’re off. When at home most of my driving is 100% electric, I average 38 EV miles, and if not on a road trip, only get gas once every 3 months or so. We’ve estimated the electric cost of ownership per month is about $50 depending how often I charge. I don’t charge it every day. My only complaint is I really am concerned about the long term reliability of Chryslers. I have a friend that has the same van but 2 years older and 66k miles and she’s about to trade hers for a Sienna. Hers has had total power loss on the freeway multiple times, and Chrysler just issued a recall for 2017-2021 Pac Hybrids that they should not be charged or parked in the garage due to fire risks! While so far this isn’t affecting my vehicle, it does make me very concerned. The depreciation in value has also been shocking. I know Chryslers are not a Toyota or Honda in terms of reliability, but we paid $47k for our Pacifica 15 months ago and right now with 22k miles, KBB value is approximately $28k for excellent condition! That’s really abysmal IMO. I’m hoping it lasts us 2 more years, and we will probably trade it for a used EV9 or what I’d really love is a Sienna Prime!!

The benefit is a large amount of your driving is clean, quiet, smooth, uses no fuel at all, and can be replenished at home on a regular 120 Volt outlet instead of going to a gas station. Some owners report having a tank of gas last months because they use so little.
@directorjustin
@directorjustin Ай бұрын
@@JD-yx7be Series hybrids are less efficient than parallel hybrids. Converting potential energy (fuel) to mechanical energy (spinning shaft from engine to motor/generator) to potential energy again (battery) then back to mechanical energy again (spinning shaft from motor/generator to wheels) loses more energy to three conversion processes than with a parallel hybrid which only does one. This means the engine would have to be more powerful to make up the losses, not less.

The irony here is that minivans helped save Chrysler back in the 80's. But I would not be surprised if this minivan becomes the Chrysler brand's final product. Stellantis is in trouble with its cash cows, Ram and Jeep. And with all the other brands the holding company has to worry about in its too-diverse portfolio, it would be easy to kill the Chrysler brand. Particularly so since Carlos Tavares has announced the need to cut expenses by 30% in North America.

Interesting how Carlos keeps closing perfectly good factories in an attempt to “cut costs” and “remove partially capacitated” factories when he’s the one killing the Chrysler and Dodge models one by one with no replacement in the pipeline. He’s shooting Stellantis in the foot, yet thinks the management is flawless and the cost cutting being required from the ones that actually sustain the company. Dumb dumb.

Year 2000 came and went, so why do so many reviewers insist on saying “two thousand and seventeen”? Would it not be more fluid to just say “twenty seventeen “?

He’s spending some of that Toyota commercial money on groceries. Chrysler probably slipped him an envelope to review this dinosaur 🦕

Chrysler is dead. Not being dramatic. It’s dead. Literally no ads, no marketing, no future products, and nothing has been teased that’s coming soon. Dodge is in bad shape but I’ve been saying it for years that Chrysler is in a really bad position. It is dated. It’s had tons of recalls and it’s not worth the price on the sticker. Plus, when people think of vans now they think Sienna, Odyssey, or the Carnival. It sucks because Chrysler has had some cool products in the past but they really just let it die. If I’m not mistaken, the plan for Stellantis was that by 2026 or just past, you had to turn a profit. Im not sure how Chrysler can do that with a minivan… lol.
