Picking a VP to shore up a particular state or group of voters is a time honored tradition. Harris is no different. She's as qualified as any other VP. Now, given Biden's age, maybe they should've considered electability but that's not something they could've anticipated at the time. If Biden runs for 2nd term, VP doesn't matter, and if he doesn't run l, then there is a primary and VP doesn't matter. I think she has an edge over Trump.

The Democrats had a contested convention in 1968 in Chicago. Nixon won. That includes 4 Supreme Court Justices. In a 5-4 decision in 1982, the Court ruled that the President is entitled to absolute immunity from legal liability for civil damages based on his official acts. Nixon v Fitzgerald. 3 were Nixon appointees. See a trend there?
