When I was young , I lived in Bama and it was legal to hunt deer with dogs and it caused some bad shots occasionally and deer get wounded and they would head to water to help stop the bleeding , and I’ve seen them trying to hook and kill dogs while in the water , so had to finish the deer off while in the water , sometimes , would I hunt with dogs now , no , see a lot more deer without dogs

Yeah, I have been on bear hunts with dogs. I just have no desire to hunt deer with dogs and especially not shooting a buck in the water.

If it's not illegal it's meat in the freezer... but there are ppl who mainly hunt for the sport of it and a trophy to hang on the wall, the meat is just a bonus for them... but those are also the same ppl that go on ranch hunts and hunt what we can pets here.... those sporting guys don't have a problem with shooting caged deer so shooting a deer in the river ain't any different for a meat hunter... where i live you can't dog deer or shoot them in water either, hell you can't even bait out of season, can only use dogs to track a shot deer... but if it's legal where they are at more power to them....i can't hunt with dogs, over food plus or baits, can't shoot in water and few other rules that most ppl don't have to follow so we limited on what our options are here...so when you get the chance to feed the family you take it and don't let it go by

Yes when you have the luxury of being able to go home without food I can see hunting for the sport of it, unfortunately alot of ppl especially with grocery prices now, that don't have that option to go home empty handed and have to get meat no matter what.... but I feel yall I have hunted for both sport and meat I see both sides also.... be safe out there fellers

Some ppl have to get food no matter what and as long as it's legal to do, being a "loser" feeds his kids... can't call someone a loser for providing for his family... but I get what you saying if your hunting purely for the sport of it this is not sporting at all, but sporting ain't got shit to do with putting food on the table tho

On the same hand tho most the sporting hunters also hunt caged pets and that's not sporting at all by no means either...referring to high fence ranch hunts, in case you didn't kno what I was saying there
