I like this cover, but i think doing it more in the style of their death metal peers at the time would be more apt imo. Possessed or Death comes to mind. The chorus and bridge maintained a semblance of metallicas original but the verses were just so far from the original it kinda doesnt sound like the song at all 🤷‍♂️. I think what defined death metal in the 80s was LOUD ass vocals in the mix also pretty intelligable and dissonant but pretty melodic guitar work. I find that Deaths TRUE first two death metal records were more melodic than a thrash band like slayer. I just think it was too brutal and too far of an interpretation. Creeping deaths 100bpm tempo as well puts it in the realm of a "Pull The Plug" song in my opinion but this cover is more reminiscent of a late 90s Deicide song or Cannibal record. Which is fine lol just wouldve wanted a more trad death approach
