I know it's supposed to be funny but it helps when it's based on actual facts: - You can use third part headphones and control chargers on the 360 (I use both and not MS official products); - the 360 was not a "big dip in profits" for Microsoft - the system sold 80M units, 25% of its users paid 60 dollars a year for Gold and it was a very profitable product; - Very few 360 games require a mandatory installation so you rarely run out of space even on a small harddrive - save files and patches are very small. If you do, use a USB pen drive! Yes, despite the punch in the video, the 360 supports them and they are dirt cheap! - Why are limited edition consoles a problem all of a sudden? - F2P games are not exclusive to the XBox platforms;

you know what, as an all-platform user, I'll tell you that apple has been dropping the ball a lot harder than windows has... It's quite clear that Apple left their PC business third-place behind their mobile plans. Their mobile stuff is quite good (but still overpriced) but their macs have been nothing but a downer in the last years. Their OS might still be the most stable one (although it really isn't as stable as people like to state it is), but they don't even go through the effort of letting their mac's hardware be up to date anymore. The most expensive mac you can get right now has hardware in it from 2012. -- BUT: MS has been dropping the ball hard as well. Almost everything modern seems to get crappier every day. They focus on clouds and interconnectivity over a well-placed product.

And what about Surface lineup? IPad is better than the Surface they say? Yes if you want a tablet which plays many apps, the IPad is better. But if you want a Tablet which is more productive and can execute every single program because of the Intel I5 / I7 processors and a attachable keyboard? Then the Surface is the best you can get ! And if you want a budget laptop ($300) you get windows with it. If you want to play games on a PC? Windows ! And now with the new Windows Phones, which you can connect to a monitor and use as a real PC? Microsoft did it! I will not even start about the Microsoft Hololens. I don't think Xbox One is as bad is it's made out to be (although, I don't own one (actually, I've heard from the people that do own them they are great, and underrated) It got a bad reputation at the start. However, you need to ask why. Well, mandating a Kinect 2.0 with every Xbox One allows for full game support. It's like buying the Wii U with the optional GamePad. Games would not be the same, because companies would have to expect noone to have the GamePad. And therefore could not build the came to utilize the tablet. Look how much more interesting games are on the Wii U that companies were able to take full advantage of it (for Wii U exclusives). About Virtual Boy: Yeah, it failed because Nintendo did not easily allow companies to utilize it. Similar with the Wii U, and relative to Kinect 2.0 People who rage over things they don't fully understand really irate me. I don't know if you do understand this, but it just needs to be clear. I've said my piece, and that is all I will say. I don't care if you rage, however. I don't care to argue, I don't care to change your opinion. All I am attempting to accomplish is that you have a better understanding of why Xbox One was what it was. Were they trying to force any of their products on the customers? Possibly. But, I'm not to say (noone that doesn't work at Microsoft GS is really).

They are just lazy enough not to fire up Google and search something about building a PC, buying assembled rig instead. It's really simple, since a) Internet is full of information, and there are plenty of forums where you can ask about everything, and B) building a PC is not harder than building Lego, because very little can go wrong if you follow the manual. If they're elderly people who are not good with tech at all, though, it is justified. But they tend to switch to easier to use tablets.

TheLaXandro All surgeries are really quite simple as well. All the information is online and you can buy all the tools you need to repair and replace your own organs. The point I'm making here is that for some people it's worth the extra money to not have to worry about either: A) Learning things they don't want to spend any time learning, or B) Screwing it up because they didn't fully understand the material. I build it, and I either ghost my old HDD image, or if my hdd completely bricked, I just run Linux until I can acquire a copy of windows. Then I either sell or give it to a family member, or friend, my old rig, or I use it as my Linux rig(For work.). You run any other distros? I prefer Debian and Gentoo myself.

Also Gentoo is a great distro, though can be a bitch to install, specially if you are unfamiliar with Linux. oh and lactarius 77 Yes it is a great Distro, you can mold it to fit your own needs. It is a double edge sword, as even installing software since you compile the source. I don't recommend it for people who are complete newbs to Linux, though it is a great way to learn. . .Sort of like power leveling in an RPG, you are going to get your ass handed to you a lot when you first start, but you level up a lot faster. Still though, I would start out with something like Debian, Ubuntu, mint, or similar distros. (Sorry if I am repeating anything I haven't checked this thread in ages. . .and since I am on KZbin typing a wall of text, it means I am incredibly bored, and sleep deprived.)

Mike M Long story short: if you don't value your privacy, Microsoft is fine. However, Windows 10 is extremely shady when you actually care about this sort of thing. While I applaud that there are privacy settings, it's very suspicious that Windows still communicates with the Microsoft servers if you disable all settings. Furthermore, you can't even disable all of them when you use home edition. Cortana is optional, but if you use it, you basically live in a panopticum. Cortana even reads your text messages and emails. While I don't think it's inherently alarming that Windows 10 does communicate with Microsoft servers, it's alarming that it doesn't let me prevent that communication. Alex Bermann Large megacorps all steal data. Apple was caught working with NSA. Basically half of googles profit is from taking customer data. Microsoft says that it acquires data in order to make things better for the experience of using Windows 10 which is, in my experience, true (for example Cortana notifies me about traffic every single morning before I go to "work" (which is school for me). It is surely creepy the first time but you start to really enjoy these types of things. It is definitely shady business, but when it benefits my experience, I can't complain too much. I could always write down passwords in a journal just incase MSFT ever gets hacked.

Gears of war is mediocre and has been doing the same stuff for a while like Halo. They charge 25 extra dollers for Netflix. Microsoft needs to wake up before Steam OS gets released. I'm moving everyone I know (and IT for) to it. Steam OS has everything going for it compared with Windows. It's free of charge and hassle. When I tell my non techy friends that it's free and that they can play all their favourite games on it, plus have Facebook and Twitter, it's a done deal.

BeyondEnergy Well, more or less. It's not 100% done yet, anyhow. The Steam OS relies on being a very lightweight system, though. If they packed it with UI and driver elements similar to Windows they would lose the gaming performance that drives the OS' success. Also, not many want to use two operating systems. (a la, writing essays on Word in Windows and playing Team Fortress 2 on Steam OS) Linux also wont support any of the Adobe editing software or Sony Vegas for a long time. Currently, there is no good reason to use the Steam OS over Windows other than performance. The Steam OS is designed to run a simple UI and a huge library of games on TVs, using the Steam controller. The goal was not to compete with Windows, rather it was to compete with consoles.

Raul Kolk Sure it's not a full blown OS but I think with time and with linux being Open means there will be varients that will support some stuff at the beginning. Some time after that when people will want to get some work done without switching from Steam to windows for work and games, they will eventually switch to Steam as it more than likely have some kind of support for what they need even if it's limited at first. Microsoft can have buisnesses with win machines but home PCs will run Steam. It's the only logial progression I can see, otherwise we're fucked.

Martynas Ch i didnt say it could....its clearly not a gaming machine. if your friend wasnt a dumbass he'd know he could just bootcamp and run those games. really not that complicated. the reason he cant run it is because it wasnt ported to os x, not because the hardware is somehow inferior. ready to be shocked? a lot of people dont care about gaming. people buy macs because the interface allows you to be more productive out of the box, not because they want to play games.

You could get a computer from System76 though, and there are some computers from other manufacturers that have Linux by default. You could also have it by default by building your own computer.

Microsoft is losing money on everything they make right now, even with all this nonsense and a lot of what you said wasn't exactly accurate. You COULD use any flash drive with the 360 for storage space and any hard drive, you had to reformat it but you had to do that on the PS4 too so it's not like it mattered. You can dual boot Linux with Windows as well. But if you look at all market places, Xbox < PS4, Windows Phone < Android, iOS, Zune < iPod, lol the only thing M$ has for it is the OS and it will lose to SteamOS I pray. If Adobe wasn't so stubborn and ported Photoshop and Illustrator over to Linux half the problem would be solved right there.

Both refuse to up their security for their servers despite charging their customers, both are charging too much for technology that should be about $200 - 300. Can't wait for SteamOS to launch. I don't get it...First of all, Linux's UI as well as OSX give it a turn around ''Windows'' of Windows. Changing the side of closing those windows, changing the colours, adding a few stuff etc...doesn't make them original. Windows showed the way for the ultimate OS....Linux doesn't make your life easier with all this bunch of commands, neither the UI prettier with its simplicity. As i said i had used it for a while from a boot CD and when i tried to install it on the HDD i was getting often errors of GPU incompatibility, while i can easily run 8.1 now. Linux is good for hacking, but not for an everyday's use. -About OSX, just not interested. Not as flexible as Windows, incompatible, limited etc. -Windows Phones are garbage?? Because they don't crash, they don't cause core errors, UI errors etc like an Android? Because they are fast as hell or because they are beautiful and different than the similar iOS/Android?? Anyway, the phone area is mostly based on a personal choice, but not the full OS. They are supposed to make our life easier and prettier in a way and only Windows have achieved this. You say that you cannot wait for Steam OS....i mean...this is another example of instability....what is the Steam OS?? People like to experiment and MS monopoly makes them bored, but you cannot deny that they have developed through the years fields that others simply stepped on them.
