That's super exciting news! Just based on the videos I've seen about Transgrancanaria, I'm sure that it'll be truly amazing, and even more because you're already familiar with it.

The island is like a miniature continent. We are going to be cold, then hot, then cold then hot in the span of 16 hours. As a matter of fact, they require you carry a whole winter pack on you. With gloves, a windbreaker, and thermal pants.

I just finished week 2and am really liking it. So far so good. Hopefully it's enough running... I am used to running a lot more for a marathon

Yes!! Love this! I am aiming for my first full (I've run multiple halfs) and first 50Km next year, for my 40th!

wow that is vey exciting news. I totally agree, we have to take the chance, when we can get it. I had runs like that in my head for quite some time, but i sadly missed out as at the time i was not strong enough to do it, and now i am too old to risk a mountain race. I am happy to still run, but i cannot risk a fall, so i stay basically on the roads and very easy trails. Best of luck with the training and i wish you all the joy doing such a wonderful race

Carole and I have wonderful chemistry running together so hopefully we don't destroy our friendship after all of the hardships we'll go through. 🙂 I am so very excited!!!! Thanks for all your support. It doesn't go unnoticed

We all started somewhere! I actually think a 5k is harder than a half marathon lol

We all want to be Sally! Lol. I followed her 50lK plan when I ran my 50K and I felt like I had more in me when I finished. Recovery was really good too. Choose strong girl!💪

@@IRunThings yes I did not miss a workout. The only major change I did was the pinnacle long run. Because I’m a slower runner, I did a mileage run instead of time and backed it up with a run the following day. So 26 on Saturday and 8 on Sunday. Everything else was the same.

Very cool. My first and only fifty mile race was the JFK 50. When you get the ultra bug, try that one. It has Appalachian Trail, rail trail and city miles. Anyways, looks like you have a great plan as usual. I can't wait to follow you on this next journey.

As we age; we regret what we didn't do in life, NOT what we did. Way to confront your dreams with attempting the Ultra.

Yeah. I couldn't pass on it. I can't wait to run it. I can't wait to go through these next 7 months of training and racing

"This might be the only ultra I will ever run" never said by anyone once they finish an ultra 😂 (ok I'm exaggerating but if you complete it, you will probably do another) You picked a hard one! 4000+ meters of climbing - that is a lot for 50 miles. The downhills are actually the thing you probably need to think about - with the up, there is the down. And down is what can really beat up the quads (it's why I DNF'd San Diego 100 - I did not have the downhill training and by mile 60 and 10K feet of climbing my quads had given up on downhill). If I were to have gotten training in appropriately (so many reasons I didn't including sickness and work travel), I would have done a lot more climbing on trails combined with running downhills. Even doing downhills on road will be helpful in this regard. IDK if you have a lot of hills to train on in eastern PA. I know the middle of the state has lots of mountains so maybe if you do some weekend outings where you drive an hour out or something. That's generally what we have to do here too.

I know people who have trained for this one and for UTMB with incline on a treadmill. It's not exactly the same thing, but it worked for them. I do plan on getting some actual mountain running in September. It will be hard after December because of the snow

If you goto washington crossing on nj side, there are trails and lots of hills
@IRunThings3 ай бұрын
I actually have a map that I downloaded yesterday. Great minds think alike! 😃 Ps. The issue is on the weekdays. It takes me about 20 mins each way to get to Washington crossing on the NJ side. That's 40 mins of my time on days when I am pressed for it. It's a great option for a weekend!

I am thinking about getting a punch card. I wouldn't go enough to justify a membership. That, or getting a rack for the basement. I am little by little converting it into a woman cave lol. My husband hardly ever goes down
