And on the Black Album there's at least 3-4 solid songs that still hit hard today (Though the Never, My Friend of Misery, Holier Than Thou).

Well the whole point of the song is simulating a heavy church bell tolling. It's rhythmic but cacophonic. Beer keg is what priests use when father Onufrius sold all gold leafs from the belfry.

Like Load/Reload had a lot of whingy country Rock, but Fuel is definitely the song that feels like heavier Pop-Punk from that dark time for heavy music and Metal before Limp Bizkit wasn't banned from entering several countries for sucking. (Fuel is catchy tho, I am mocking the genre, not the track itself).

It actually works for the slower songs, the problem comes with the fast beats because of the long decay… if you listen to I Disappear, the infamous st anger snare is already there, but it’s a groovier song and St. Anger had a lot of FAST songs and starts sounding saturated

It might be good for a second snare to accent certain parts of a song but the problem I hear is that unlike most snares there's a pitch to it that stands out like a sore thumb and becomes quite redundant pretty quick.

In flames often have a very pronounced pitched snare sound (best heard in the intro to "in plain view") and it's gorgeous. As a drummer I am in love with that song for the snare sound alone. Although I agree that often times a less ringing snare works better.

What i have come to love most about St. Anger is the fact that we are still talking about the snare drum 20 years later. Most noticable snaredrum production in music history - like it or not!😂 I still find myself listening to the album every now and then and really liking most of it. Incl. the drums😉
