When I started working at my last employer at the age of 20 I learned about the 3 legged stool of retirement planning. SS, pension, savings/investments. I'm not expecting SS to cut 23% but if it does my RMD will cover that assuming the economy doesn't go in the toilet which is certainly possible. Couple 69/66.

Classic female country singers I like, Tanya Tucker, Patty Loveless, Rosanne Cash. Modern ones, Carrie Underwood, and Mean Mary. I'm not sure if Mary Chapin Carpenter counts as country or not. Where does "Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug" fit in the scheme of things? As to the question, the possibility of a cut to SS is one factor in me holding off claiming for another year. Last year was more profitable than expected, so I reloaded the cash account and will live off that for the time being. The Fed isn't going to cutting interest rates as much as anyone thought. Employment is strong and inflation is being stubborn.

If they don't stop and Trump does not fix social security, it'll be a revolution.This is not a joke.This is not a song.This is something that needs to be taken care of. Now the last president's promised he would take care of it, he campaigned.That's why he lost because he did not.This one better take care of what he said he was wanna do. Or a lot of people would be really upset when they just barely make it on social security now and you want to cut them some more.

Biden nor trump said they would fix SS. They both said they wouldn’t cut it and they didn’t. When the time comes 2033, Dems win the argument. By then the SS cap will be over $200k. If R’s refuse to remove the cap to protect people over $200k then they will lose in a landslide.

@ We already know the Dems will say lift the cap for over 200k or whatever the cap is then (could be $300k). They will also keep the current cap for benefits. That will save SS. If R’s disagree, they are done. If they try to raise the age or tax SS more or lower benefits, they are screwed. SS is off limits now.
